shhh.... can you hear it stir? conservative America wants a third party

No matter what anyone believes, many of them try really hard at being good Christians and they won't tolerate obvious liars or proven crooks. They may be religious but that doesn't make them idiots. They see that all these cons do is parade out a couple of standard issues near elections to stir up votes but they never quite fix the "problems." With the price of gas and EVERYTHING else skyrocketing, those issues begin to sound a bit stale and insignificant to even to the most faithful of steeplees.

"What is needed," the minister says, "is a party that can push these fine morals into law, while they plant a few religious icons at the court house." Those guys need a party the produces, instead of only promises! These moralists can become the Christianity Of the People. They can then claim to be a morality COP.

Old-school fiscally conservative Republicans need a party true to traditional government of the people ideals. This current den-of-thieves is a fiscal disgrace. Older Republicans, who still have character, know the value of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, so they can perhaps offer advice to their more spiritual cousins. This party keeps the standard GOP designation.

And last but not least, war-happy chicken-hawk neocons need a party, right after they finish mandatory military service. For them, it's GAP. Yep, when they return from combat we can throw them a Going Away Party, right before sending them back for some more Pentagon playtime.

11. Sorry, don't recall, but I was watching CNN most of the day....
and, as it sometimes happens, I was doing other things and it was sort of became "white" background noise; however, I alerted when I heard that statement, thinking that the GOP knows it's got a fight on their hands and they'd love to SPLIT the vote with a third party -- which would be to their advantage!

3. Man you haven't dealt with these people. They are evil incarnate
They are totally obsessed with getting eternal life as part of the selected group. They don't care who dies or has pain inflicted on them. These people make the Nazis look like school kids.

4. once they are isolated, the MORAL MAJORITY...
ceases to be a "majority.

BTW, I live in Alabama, so bear that in mind, before making snap judgments.

5. Lumping them all together under one label
sounds sorta like bigotry.

I know lots of Christians who are caring, loving people and appalled at what the GOP has been doing. Life long Republicans who are publicly stating their disgust and dissent.

There are xians and there are Christians. And there are Christians in both parties.

7. Yeah
Not all conservative Christians are as described in the 'these people' reply

I overlooked nothing. I got it. Brash generalizations, 'these people' sort of broad brush painting of groups... tell me, would that play if the group being discussed was a racial or ethnic group? A specific gender? Nope, it would be bigotry.

yes "these people" is indeed a hideous label! A couple of things you overlook is that those two words are often combined in our language with no negative connotations. Like "these people" under the big umbrella of DU or "these people" on the planet. It can also describe "these people" who need a new political party, which is how it appears in the OP.

Get your self-righteous feelings off your shirt-sleeve and take care, as you staunchly judge another unfairly, while defending Christianity. I suspect to "these people" reading what you write you're beginning to look like you grasp at straws, while blowing nothing into an issue.

Under a VERY large Christian umbrella there are "these people" who are dangerous nut cases and many live down here. There are also "these people" who are the model of selflessness under that Divine canopy.

8. The Constitution Party would meet their needs.
Edited on Sat Jul-15-06 11:48 PM by gully
The Constitution Party The Democrats and Republicans have squandered the Founders' legacy of liberty and justice under the Constitution. Countless government officials in the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of government ignore their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Join the Constitution Party in its work to restore our government to its Constitutional limits and our law to its Biblical foundations.

14. I think notable Democrats should start mentioning this party the way
the Repugs do Nader.

They repeatedly said things like "At least you know where Ralph Nader stands on the issues" (as opposed to Kerry). :eyes: Pretty easy to take tough stands with the benefit of hindsite and no voting record to critique. Their mention of Nader seemed scripted and organized. They also continually give Nader a divisive voice in the MSM, which would be curious to those of lesser intellect. ;)

12. Not one chance they will abandon the GOP.
They'll grumble, they'll threaten. But the fundies (not all christians, just the fundies -- we are talking Roy Moore types) who put Bush in power will not EVER split from the GOP. Mainly because they think God is a Republican and the DNC is a code word for 666.

...profit-mongers who don't give a damn about their hot-button issues.
