Madeline Albright was shocked this a.m. that Condi was not en route
to Israel to try to broker some kind of peace. I am also. What is the U.S. doing exactly? I see dimson is posing madly in St. Petersberg, but where's everyone else?

(Albright was on This Week w/George Steph)

1. Italy started evacuating people out of Lebanon TWO DAYS AGO
I guess that Condi and Dear Leader can't be bothered right now.

I seriously doubt that we will even give a thoughtful try to evacuate the lion's share of our 25,000 citizens because it will stoke the fires of hatred even more.

Remember, the Neo-Conservative nut cases that run Our Country LOVE to spew Vengeance, Fear and Perpetual War. :puke:

3. Why should she waste her time?
I'm sure this was all pre-meditated and all that they need to say has been said. They don't even feel the need to put up a facade of diplomacy any more.

5. An enemy of my enemy is not neccessarily a friend.
Albright is no less a murderer of Iraqi's.

snip

In 1996, she made highly controversial remarks in an interview with Leslie Stahl on CBS's Sixty Minutes. Asked by Stahl with regards to effect of sanctions against Iraq: "We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?" Albright replied: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price -- we think the price is worth it." <3>. When asked about this remark in 2005 she said "I never should have made it, it was stupid", but she still supported the concept of tailored sanctions <4>.

8. She explained herself more fully ...
At least enough to convince me that she is a person of "basic compassion."

However, some people will not ever forgive her.

13. I'm rather shocked by this comment!
I don't think that the U.N. sanctions against Iraq were equivalent to the U.S. unilaterally invading and occupying the country.

15. Then do a little math.

The UN determined that sanctions cost 1/2 million kids their lives.

1/2 million.

Worth it?

But to call Albright "no less a murderer" than bushco is just not right, imo.

18. I understand that you don't see it as equivilent.

I don't really know that it's EQUAL, per se. But it's close enough for my peace-preferring mind to make the comment I did.

To be sure, the death toll exacted by the two Bushes will dwarf that of Clinton having "stayed the course" during the 90's.

7. Methinks they want this conflict...higher oil prices means more money
in the pockets of spoiled little rich boy and his corporate-whore pals; it gins up the Reich-Wing "Christian" base, who's been longing for the ME to go up in flames (to "prove" their idiotic theology)...
I don't think they have any interest in stopping it. Hell, we may even wind up with an excuse to invade Iran, and they've wanted to do that for yonks...

As long as they can hide in their little bunkers in undisclosed locations and emerge to rule the wasteland that'll be left once they complete their task of destroying the planet, they're cool...

What the hell is wrong with these STUPID Right Winger lemmings? "But da gays can't marry and women will not be able to have a choice in their family planning." Yep, Earl and May Ella will live in abject poverty as well as continue to ADORE the people who brought about their financial ruin. MORAN'S INDEED! :puke:

22. Condi is a musical prodigy and fluent in the Russian language ....

But doesn't even know that the word
no in Russian is Nyet not Da.

Plus her knowledge of Russian history
and politics was gained at the Heritage
foundation at Stanford after she got her
MUSIC degree.

figures it's strectched enough for the moment. You know they aren't going to stop Israel, and they probably don't want to get in any more wars with Arabs until they've cleaned up the current one a bit.

19. Condi says Israel should wage war a little longer...wasn't that clear
enough? The LAST thing Condi wants is peace. She's fulfilling the Neocon wet dream our government shares with Israel's government. They are trying to conquer the Middle East for oil, water and global positioning. It's their last chance before ol' money bags, the US, goes down the tube.

26. Changing World Lens
A restoration of U.S. national security is vital concerning events in the last two weeks. Remember the fad cliché in the nineties about a New World Order. Not the most favored term for global affairs, however, we must look at the world from an entirely different lens. July 4 Kim Jung Ill and North Korea attempted to get the worlds attention with his exuberant missile display. Terrorists kill 200 hundred Indians in train bombing. In addition, an Israeli soldier kidnapped leading to a 5-day war in Israel and Hezballah. Today is the 16th. There is Iran, and do not for get the evolving democratization going on in Iraq. The Bush Administration and Congress most expect crisis to appear, uneventful at times, but indeed troublesome for our interests. A shift in doctrine will take place if Israel continues. A new doctrine based on current and future events of global affairs and national security must occur. The U.S. hesitation to intervene in talks between Israel and Hezballah may be a hint that if we do not we will let Israel rain hell on any opposing forces.

Rachel Kleinfeld, Director of Truman National Security Project, has a rather straightforward yet historic point about FDR, Truman, and JFK.

http://www.trumanproject.org

The traditions and gifted points of views of these administrations got us through many crisis and groups such as the Truman Project are places to go and perhaps view the world with the right lens and solve global problems effectively.
