RI Senate Race Update - Whitehouse Can Be Beat |
|
There's fewer than 60 days until the Rhode Island US Senate race primary. The Whitehouse camp uses the cute tag line "A Whitehouse in Washington You Can Trust". It may be the campaign's downfall.
During this period, the ProJo, local media and GOP opponents will raise issues about Sheldon's "legacy" and performance as the state's A/G and post gubernatorial loss to Myrth York. Currently, he has declined multiple requests from the media for a debate.
He may face inquiry about the amounts and sources of campaign funds or state ethics investigations involving financial disclosure and reporting. He may need to address his "flip flopped" stance on the Iraq war and a campaign that alleges it has had no primary to elected officials and the media.
Rhode Islanders want bold vision tied to RI's future that addresses it's working family issues. They resist the cronyism that has benefited the few over the many and has crippled the state with heavy taxes.
It may well be they will come to believe Two Whitehouses are One Too Many in Washington...

1. Wikipedia sez Sheeler has almost zero chance...0 to 8% |
|
Once a Pub
then in 2004, ran for the...State Senate...as an INDEPENDENT
Now running as a DEM...we Dems were 3rd pick
Carl claims to have a PHD...which the University disputes, they having no records.
etc etc....this guy sure has guts to run...but it ain't enough.
Go see wikipedia for more...google his name and find out.
Even Cruela Harris has better odds.
Why is he running? Who knows?

2. Why are you compelled to do a character assasination |
|
on someone who has sacrificed a tremendous amount of time and energy and money trying to make a difference?
He's a veteran as well.
As to switching parties BIG DEAL. Plenty of people have done that and people change their orientations over time. Reagan was a democrat at one time for pete's sake.
There is very little public awareness of his candidacy and that could change closer to the primary if he gets some coverage. As to his credentials he is a professor and most of them do have Phd's.

9. I am not doing a chactor assination. I am here to help the system |

work better.
The US Senate is a very High Post in our Gov't. Candidates who are running should be filtered to insure the Best Candidate is victorious. This helps the Odds that good decisions are made. More good decisions make for better Gov't. Better Gov't means better Life styles/richer Society/Safer, Cleaner, Cities/etc.
I am not so sure this Carl Sheeler is the best of the lot for a number of reasons.
Deception: The Claim to have a PhD from X University is possibly a fraulent one: X University has no record of his name(Wikipedia)
No record to speak of. Not a State Rep or a State Senator....not even a Mayor.
Weak on Ideas/concepts to help America recover from the Bush Damage... Limp Messages not gonna do it. A sign RI should be looking elsewere....
He is dismal in the present Polls: We should wonder why....
I am only the messenger: Read the message: RI can do better.

>Deception: The Claim to have a PhD from X University is possibly a fraulent(sic) one: X University has no record of his name(Wikipedia) Again, wikipedia is not a source. For all I know he never claimed to have a PhD, let alone X university never denied his claim. You could be right, which would give me cause to think, but you will not prove it unless you provide both the claim from him, and the denial from the university. Second hand information doesn't go far with me. Anybody can post on wikipedia.
>No record to speak of. Not a State Rep or a State Senator....not even a Mayor. I don't see this as a handicap. He does, however, have a record if you care to look. Start with the military record. Then look up his business record.
Since we are talking about records, I remember that Sheldon Whitehouse, as AG in RI, proposed opening all medical records to law enforcement. That is a record I am not impressed with.
>Weak on Ideas/concepts to help America recover from the Bush Damage... Limp Messages not gonna do it. A sign RI should be looking elsewere.... He has the strongest possible position on how to undo our Iraq problem. That goes far with me. He also has a strong position on removing * from power. That also impresses me. Your argument about him is without basis, and in fact it strikes me as particularly malicious.
>He is dismal in the present Polls: We should wonder why.... I know why. The local rag will not mention him, save for one saturday mention as "the billboard guy". He has no voice, because he doesn't own a printing press or TV station. The first polls didn't even include him. Whitehouse will not debate him, either.
Bill
Edit to add: What's your dog in this fight? You won't list where you are from, so I don't even know if you are local enough to see firsthand what happens in RI. Are you a Whitehouse staffer?

13. No, I am not a WH Supporter and I come from the 50th State |
|
But I got friends in RI...and I wish to see them get the best Senators...for all of our sakes. 100 Senators is a special group of people..They speak for all of us.
Serving in the Military is one thing. I got no bones on Service. The Record I mentioned referred to Elective Office...having a good background in Gov't affairs. As a Newbie to Politics, he should cut his teeth on the Lower Levels, Then move up. Yes, I realize he can run for President if he chooses, as he has done throwing his hat in for the US SENATE. This approach results in peeps not taking him seriously, as evidenced by recent polls.
His business record includes a bankruptcy and losing his California Appraisal Lic due to an agreement with said State(Wikipedia)
His website includes a claim to have a PhD from Union University in 2004.
Carl seems confused: From Pub to Indy to Dem....even tho he claims to have opened his eyes after 9/11. But he ran as an Indy in 04...
Something smells here.

12. He usually isn't included in polls I have seen |
|
just as Wilson wasn't included in the WA polls either. I think if pollsters see a candidate as a long shot, they just leave them out. It's not fair, but it seems to be the way it goes.

|
Is it a Plot of some kind? Is he Delusional?...running with 8% support cannot be encouraging....but he is in there....why?
