Dennis Hastert: "Truthiness"-Teller
House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) said Thursday that the Republicans would "increase our majority in November."

How did Hastert conclude this? I can come up with two possibilities:

-- Hastert is in serious denial.
-- Hastert, lacking actual facts, turned to spin.

That's not to say that Hastert is wrong. We won't know until November whether Republicans pick up or lose seats in Congress. It's just that Hastert's " truthiness" is so easy to pick apart.

Click here to read the many stupid things Hastert said.

1. Only ONE way that'll happen...
Rampant election fraud.

This time, let NOTHING go unchallenged.

3. Predictions have no truth value until after the
prediction is shown false.

If he's right, it's not truthy, it was an accurate forecast. If he's wrong, it's not truthy, it's an inaccurate forecast.

He'll be delving the depths of truthiness if the repubs lose, and he says that they really won, that the votes weren't counted correctly, and he has no or insufficient evidence to show this to be the case.

4. like i said
He might be right ... the GOP may pick up seats in November.

And there may be legitimate reasons to think the GOP can pick up seats in November. But the reasons Hastert gave were a bunch of hooey -- hence the suggestion that he is engaging in "truthiness."
