1. I fail to see the point of that blog post

The author says that the strategic center of the region has shifted to the Gulf. But even if that's true, so what? Does he think Israel is bombing Lebanon just to get attention? Israel is bombing Lebanon because forces in Lebanon are a threat to it. Whether Lebanon is the center of interest or not is completely irrelevant.

2. Israel is bombing Lebanon because the Israelis are fools.

They think the forces in Lebanon are a threat now, just wait. After this aggression and mindless killing, there will be a blowback. Strategically this is almost as dumb as the invasion of Iraq.
