Syrians march in support of Hezbollah, Assad

DAMASCUS - Tens of thousands of Syrians took to the country’s streets on Monday in a show of support for the Lebanese group Hezbollah and embattled Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, who is coming under fire over his country’s support for the militant group.
Thousands marched through the centre of the capital Damascus chanting slogans in support of Assad and Hezbollah chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah who has been targeted in Israeli airstrikes on his home and offices.
“I am here to express my solidarity with the Lebanese resistance and to express outrage at what is happening in Lebanon. We all love Nasrallah and support him,” said Fatima Ibrahim, 32, a government employee.
She urged the Hezbollah leader to step up rocket attacks against Israel and called on the international community to come to Lebanon’s rescue.
“The Syrians and the Lebanese are brothers and nothing would separate us,” said Ali al-Haj Hassan, a 20-year-old Lebanese, adding that Syrians had opened their houses to Lebanese fleeing the violence at home. ...
