Janeane Garofalo "farewell" shows?
From
http://www.majorityreportradio.com/weblog/index.php

Then, this week Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, Janeane will co-host with Sam for three 'farewell' shows, as we send Janeane off in style, with some favorites guests including Jason Bateman, Lawrence O'Donnell, Amy Goodman, and others
========================================================================================================

Is she leaving the show for good? What happened?

1. Really don't know what happened
But she is a movie and TV star so maybe she just decided to pursue her career in that field. Seder is a better radio person than her anyway and it may be good for him to solo all the time.

2. I like the show when both of them are on together.
I also like Sam Seder when he's talking to a caller, but I don't like it when he does a monologue of shouting into the microphone.

3. I don't know the truth in this......
But a friend of mine books comedy shows here in the Houston ( I have booked several of his shows at my nightclub and they are verrry good!) claims neither Jeanine no Al Franken have been paid by Air America for the last several months. Even the most committed person has to pay his/her bills.

5. Paging Bill O'Reilly...!
Yet another unsourced rumor that he'll be able to use for his continual "Air America is about to fold because no one wants to hear hate-filled liberal talk radio" mantra. :eyes:

10. Ok guys, then does anyone else have a better reason?
Sorry fellas, but money is money is money. Cher (for all her millions)
doesn't do a benefit unless a first class plane ticket to and from is thrown in! I own a nightclub and I have dealt with these celebrity
types several times over the years. One band (who had just had their FIRST music video on MTV)--DEMANDED-- I provide 2 ice chest full of beer, 4 large surpreme Dominoes Pizza's (had to be Dominoes), as well as a stack of warm towels in the dressing room, in addition to their $2500.00 fee for a one night perfomance. They drank maybe 20 beers and I ended up giving my employees most of the pizza and I never gave them the towels. It's all ego and $$$$'s with these folks.

17. That's standard stuff for celebs
Been there done that too through hospitality business. Part of their contracts. It doesn't just happen with the place they're booked, either. They do the same type of advance list to hotels they're staying in. And there's nothing out of line to contact their agent and negotiate it if you believe it's out of line.

14. I was in my car yesterday listening and there
was a spot saying just that. That her last shows she would be reminiscing with Mark Marin and some others. Didn't hear all the details but it seems to be true.

12. I love when I hear crap stories like that. Please, do us a favor...
stop spreading that BS, okay?

It's counterproductive and reeks of GOP spin talking points.

13. Al joked about this on his show a few months ago.
I think it's something O'Reilly said once.

7. On NPR last Saturday morning...
...Janeane was the guest on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. She was identified as an "ex-Air America host."

I thought it was pretty well-established that she was leaving the air soon. Of course, up here in Seattle, we don't get that show on our affiliate anymore, having been replaced by tape-delayed broadcasts of Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy.

8. Sorry to hear she's an ex-host.
I really liked the show when Sam Seder and Janeane Garofalo were on together.

9. I'd say she should just take over Jerry Springer's slot
Instead of trying to keep up on all the issues like Sam does, she could do something of a hybrid show like The Steve Earle Show with musical guests, writers and comedians she rubs elbows with.

She and Sam definitely had some friction on their show. Springer is an embarrassment and she could easily fill his shoes with her own brand of her personality and wit.

11. It seemed to me that their on-air conflict has been a running joke
from the beginning.

Also if anyone is working w/o pay, could it be that future contacts are still being negotiated?

15. I was always under the impression that Janeane was not a permament show
She joined in when Air America first started as hopefully as name recognition but ultimately her show as never a permament establishment on the network

16. That's what I recall also
She was coming in for a stint of one or two years and then would make a decision which track to take. The not getting paid thing is lame.
