It's time to go pretend like Georgia still has elections that aren't bogus
Any last minute advice about who to pick for Georgia's Democratic Lt. Governor?

I have no clue who the Dems are running, but I just can't vote against Ralphy Reed, that would require me to vote on the ReThuglican slate, and I just can't doing, I might hurl. :puke:

Hint to other GA voters, Polls close at 7:00pm EDT

1. Jim Martin
I voted for him because he is an advocate for better health care and served as director of Human Resources under Roy Barnes. Overcame polio as a child. Good man. Know his brother Jack.

2. I wouldn't worry about Ralph
I think there are enough Republican voters that will do him in.

Hecht got really nasty in the last days of the campaign. I decided Hecht didn't deserve my vote.
I was impressed with Martin's legislative record. Here's an endorsement for Martin from the AJC:

enjoys from both Democrats and Republicans would serve voters best. He spent 18 years in the state House, and also directed the troubled Department of Human Resources for Democratic Gov. Roy Barnes and for a time under current Republican Gov. Sonny Perdue. For those reasons, Martin appears the strongest candidate.

I think we'll be better of if Reed beats Cagle and then Jim Martin runs against Reed. Reed's greed and hypocrisy may well doom him in the general election. We can only hope.

edit: sp. and add info.

5. I voted for Martin too. I was planning on voting for Hecht,
but I got an email from the Dems of Gainesville explaining how Hecht was so very pro business and had used close to swiftboat tactics against Martin in the campaign. I don't watch political ads, so I wouldn't have known.

I also got a recorded call from Andy Young who strongly endorses Martin.

I really just to see a DEM in that spot!

Reed Concedes Defeat in Georgia Primary

By SHANNON McCAFFREY
Associated Press Writer

ATLANTA (AP) -- Former Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed, unable to overcome his ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, conceded defeat Tuesday in the state's Republican race for lieutenant governor.

Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney, facing her first election since a scuffle with a Capitol Hill police officer, will face a runoff with her main challenger, Hank Johnson, a former county commissioner with roots in the heart of her core constituency.

In Georgia's Democratic primary for governor, Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor won 51 percent of the vote to defeat Secretary of State Cathy Cox, and will move on to face Gov. Sonny Perdue in November.

In Alabama, George Wallace Jr. - son of the legendary Alabama governor and presidential candidate - lost his bid for the GOP nomination for lieutenant governor to Luther Strange, a first-time candidate.
