Bush sees NAACP "Moment of Opportunity" (Black votes in November)

Bush to address NAACP
White House sees ‘moment of opportunity’ in first appearance as president

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13922157/

WASHINGTON - After rebuffing the NAACP for five years, President Bush will speak at the annual convention of the oldest U.S. civil rights organization for the first time since taking office because he sees "a moment of opportunity," the White House said Tuesday. Bush was the first sitting president in decades not to address the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

His decision to appear before the group Thursday comes as the Republican Party tries to court black voters ahead of crucial congressional elections in November.

The Bush administration also was widely criticized last year for a slow response to Hurricane Katrina that some charged was tinged with racism because the storm devastated mainly poor and black communities along the Gulf Coast. Administration officials strongly denied those accusations.

Bush did address the NAACP as a presidential candidate in 2000, but not since being elected to the White House. Relations with the group were strained amid what the White House considered unfair criticism from NAACP leaders.

1. He's out of his mind. I would think that he'll be hissed and booed.
And rightly so. He's done zero for blacks in America. Zero.

2. W is running scared because he knows his party has no use
for minorities. He doesn't want to be impeached which he so much deserves. GOP loses congress, he may be held accountable for his un American actions.

3. Not to worry. You can bet he'll screw up his appearance royally.
His actions are so transparent, too, and don't think the NAACP won't/don't realize that.

5. Five straight years of rejections...
...based on the NAACP "disagreeing" with the Boy King (I thought this was America), and now he shows up because he wants something.

I'm sure the NAACP will be gracious hosts. They would have been for the last five years, too...but that's a different story.

10. There's ALWAYS a backdrop...If I've learned one thing, it's...
...the fact that there's ALWAYS a backdrop.

And the sad part of it is that it will probably be something like "Working For Black America," because a golden rule from the Karl Rove Playbook states that if you repeat a lie with a strong enough sense of fake conviction, someone will believe it. I doubt that it will sell at the NAACP, though...

9. But wouldn't it be wonderful
if he did? I'm pretty sure he will too - I still am reeling over the conversation with Blair that was on mike...the camera shots with him talking with his mouth full is a real prize...then I see this morning he was very inappropriate with Merkel....This is supposed to be the leader of the free world - we have been sold a dud, lemon, hick, a fucking idiot...

14. That's what worries me. They have been winning with single digits
from blacks. If they gain even 5% more, it will hurt us at the polls.

11. One can only hope that he is as successful at this event
as when he tried to explain what a sovereign nation was at another event he had no business being at either.

Fight in the House and Senate. They dont want to be associated with a racist party. He is using the NAACP to court a bunch of White Republicans.
