Reed bites the dust in Georgia primary, concedes to Cagle.
Edited on Tue Jul-18-06 09:17 PM by Old Crusoe
The Atlanta JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION reports that Reed is trailing in Cobb County by around 2,000 votes.

3. How does "Reed Concedes" sound to you?
"Former Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed conceded defeat about 9:55 p.m. in Georgia’s Republican primary for lieutenant governor.

With 43 percent of precincts reporting, election results showed Reed trailing by Sen. Casey Cagle (R-Gainesville) by 10 points."

10. Well, it's 56% to 44% for Cagle with 50% reporting right now.
I hear what you'r3e saying, but all the big precints are in already. The biggest one remaining to be reported in Clayton at 60 precincts.

Forsythe is real close to Gainesville so I would expect Forsythe to go for Cagle, the rest I have no idea! Right now Cagle is leading by 22,000 votes. Are there even that many people in rural Ga?

but they don't check out.) What I hope is that people recognize the whole Indian Casino, Abranoff thing as SOP for this fool--"any means necessary" means "No Morals Need Apply." He talks the righteous game, but is a creep.

Real Ralph quote: "I want to be invisible. I do guerrilla warfare. I paint my face and travel at night. You don't know it's over until you're in a body bag. You don't know until election night."

18. Reed has been one of the GOP's key "operatives" for some time now.
Cagle's distasteful too, but Reed is in a class or distasteful all by himself.

A real worm.

19. Pretty sad when a rabid hyper-right phoney like Reed can't carry Cobb
Having lived in Cobb for 8 years, I remember many Cobb Countians as being proud to be ignorant conservative reactionaries, overall, with some scattered sane people here and there. This is the county, after all, which at one time had more guns per household (7) than any other county in the U.S. (And yes, I'm implying there's a connection there. But that's OT.)
