Poll question: Which is the most tolerable?
This poll is to gather your views on teevee newz as it currently exists.

The following is said with complete respect and no ill intent: If you're one of those who chooses not to watch any teevee newz, I respect that, but your opinion here is likely not helpful toward the end goal. Similarly, if your only add to the discourse is to exhort others to turn off the teevee, you also have my respect, but again I'd ask that you withhold comment in this poll. Thanks for understanding.

Now to the poll's premise. Teevee newz comes, essentially, from three sources: local newz (your local station's local newzcast), network newz (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox (broadcast), and PBS), and cable newz (CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and if you live in some areas, BBC, and others).

In your view, who is the most tolerable, even if not completely trustworthy? It would be helpful if you could expand on your reasons by adding a comment.

After you've cast your vote, please take the time to comment as you see fit.

Housekeeping note: given the limit of ten choices, I have chosen to not list the minor broadcast networks (FOX, UPN, etc.) If one of them is your choice, please use 'Other' and add a comment. Note, too, that Internet broadcasts or podcasts, if they're your choice, would also go under 'other'.

2. Other: turn the damn thing off, it turns your brain to mush.
It's like chickens watching "The Colonel Sanders Hour" sponsored by McNuggets.

8. PBS, bar none.
Its not totally corporate owned. I like Jim Lehrer, Gwen Ifill and David Brancaccio....

Even though McLaughlin is a conservative, he gives us Eleanor Clift and I can stand Pat Buchanan when he's bashing neocons... They have great documentaries....

I don't hear myself yelling hell yeah like I do with Keith Olbermann, lets face it, he is decidedly partisan, but PBS doesn't have lots of Right wingers balanced by left wingers... they have good Newspeople.

15. What a sad state of affairs when a poll on newz reportage has to include
a choice for Comedy Central.

I'm NOT dissing your choice. It is at least as valid as any other choice.

18. It contains more truth per minute of reportage
than FOX does! And, yes, it's sad, but at least we have THAT.

16. Local CBS is pretty good
I know I should watch PBS, but I grew up with CBS. That will change the minute Katie Couric takes over, and I'll switch to ABC. The local CBS newz that comes on after the national usually covers things pretty well, even though they wallow in "impromptu memorials" and dog maulings.

19. Other -
The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.

No doubt about it, as far as TV goes.

If I had to pick one of the "mainstream" nets, I'd go with MSNBC.

21. My local NBC station is pretty good.
They pretty much report the news without any smart assed remarks about this or that politician.
