Folks: Here's a news flash - 49 OTHER States have elections this fall
I mean, I wasn't sure if anyone here at DU knew about it since it's really all about Lieberman and getting rid of it.

What scares me so much is some of you (and perhaps even myself is to blame) put more energy into getting rid of one bad democrat then they do with all the other races happening in November. Could you imagine the results if we just used half our energy into working on races in those 49 other states that have races? Hell Republicans might actually get swept out of office.

I mean we care more about Connecticut than the fact that we have very competitive races for senate seats in Virgina, Missouri and Montana where we could pick up three senate seats in republican states

We care more about Connecticut than the fact that in Pennsylvania not only could we pick up another senate seat getting rid of one of the most hideous republicans ever (Santorum) but that we have three extremely tight house seats in Southeastern PA where we have the chance to pick up 3 house seats.

We care more about Connecticut than the fact that we could possibly win in Ohio but it's so fricking corrupted there than we need to start getting excited about what Robert Kennedy Jr. is trying to do to expose the corrupt voting system there.

Open your eyes

THIS IS NOT A ONE MAN RACE THIS YEAR.

Take just HALF of the energy you have for getting rid of Lieberman and focus on just two other races where we can make a difference.

And remember this is more than just having the majority - this is the control of the committees, which is where the real change happens. If you like Boxer, Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy, Feingold, Conyers, Waxman, Murtha then give them the power to make the changes we want - give them a majority so they have committee control.

If you are frustrated by the "Gang of 14" and fighting for the filibuster then give Patrick Leahy control of the Judiciary Committee where in 2001-2 when he had control, 10 activist judges NEVER left committee for lack of enough votes (and no one on that committee is "Gang of 14')

We get so fricking distracted by Connecticut we close our eyes to so many grand opportunies out there for us to make a change

Open your eyes and just do it!!

PS - if you're from Connecticut then you have the right to put that much energy into getting rid of Lieberman - it's your state

1. I very much agree, especially since either Lieberman or Lamont is a D...
and there are so many other races where it's a difference between R and D -- Missouri, Montana, Tennessee, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio .... so many places where all of this energy would be better directed.

2. In CA, getting rid of Arnold is a priority

We have to get rid of the Gropenfuhrer. I don't like the idea of the GOPologists having any kind of role in the government here.

6. The races aren't comparable.
No one in Montana is going to sit out that Senate race because they're distracted by New Jersey or Connecticut's races.

7. Open your own damn eyes! Local/Nat races are all over DU daily.
This latest in the series of hourly "Poor Widdle Joe" threads ain't helping Bruce Braley beat Mike "Welfare" Whalen, is it?

8. What, what, WHAT?
I thought Oregon was the only one! There are elections in other states, too?

Man, I'm always the last to know.

9. I hear you ... but .......
...... while I tend to feel exactly as you sometimes, I honestly think internet chatter is a lot different than real life on the ground efforts being waged by many of us across the country. And that probably includes you, too.

But I know wutcha mean. I think the sheer number of Lieberman posts is just over the top ... and that includes the ones in which I participated and the two (I think) that I started.

10. nationally
The Liberman/Lamont contest is less important than any Democrat vs Republican race.

So there are dozens of more important races going on really.
