Rick Santorum on foreign relations. . .
Link:
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/15086895.htm

(snip)
Excerpts from Sen. Rick Santorum's appearance at the National Press Club in Washington yesterday:

"Islamic fascism is the great test of this generation."

"Hardly anyone took Mein Kampf seriously, and when Nikita Khrushchev pounded his shoe on the table at the U.N., announcing, 'We will bury you,' it was widely treated here in the U.S. as a moment of comic relief."

"To their shame, the bureaucrats have broken the law by revealing classified information to some in the media. And also, to their shame, some members of the media have put American lives at greater risk by publishing their secrets."

"I believe the only way to change the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to change the regime itself."

"Iraq was an important threat to the United States based upon the information we had at the time, much of which turned out not to be true, but much of which has."

1. The only good thing is that this pinhead seems to be
on his way out of office. I doubt Casey is much of an improvement (he's antiwoman), but at least it'll be a while before he's as thoroughly corrupt as pRick Santorum.

7. Actually, Casey supports birth control & public funding of family planning
as a way to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies. He also:

supports the Family and Medical Leave law;
supports an increase in the minimum wage to $7.25 an hour;
supports overtime protections;
supports importing prescription drugs from countries to lower drug costs;
supports making veterans' healthcare funding mandatory;
opposes privatization of Social Security;
opposes tax cuts for the wealthy.

(I'm going out tomorrow to knock on doors for Casey and Gov. Rendell, so I have a sheet of facts in front of me. :) I realize that his anti-abortion stance is a deal-breaker for a lot of women, but he is a true-blue Dem, of the old school. Not the ideal candidate, I suppose, but in these circumstances I'll take him.)

3. what part has been true on Iraq?
We were told they had reconstituted their nuclear program, had chemical & biological weapons ("we know where they are!")

We were told it would be a cakewalk and the Iraqis would greet us with candy & flowers. They said we could measure the time the troops would be there in weeks, not months. And, certainly home no later than Christmas. (I guess they meant Christmas in 2050?)

We were told that Iraqi oil would pay for the war and it would cost us a total of $1.7 billion. (give or take a trillion or two, I guess?)

We were told 150,000 troops were enough for the blitzkreig, and the person that disputed the total was fired in a humiliating fashion.

6. Their story continues to "evolve" and change
which I view as a good thing. From they had trillions of tons of wmd which could blow up the whole universe to "some of the shit we said may have been true." Interesting ltte yesterday, a bush supporter was just all upset that someone claimed bush "lied us into a war." The letter writer said that lies are deliberate distortions of fact, but what bush did was "make a mistake," not lie. The "evolutionary" process of bush supporters is slow but it is moving. If they weren't so dangerous it would be funny.

9. Our intel said Iraq was full of sand--and that assertion was totally true
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 11:09 AM by kenny blankenship
We had secret maps showing two rivers running diagonally through the approximate center of Iraq--again sound information uncovered by our spy agencies, and borne out 100% by the facts.

Photos in our possession showed the dictator of Iraq Saddam Hussein with a mustache--a key identifying feature!--and once more, our intelligence proved correct. Perhaps some liberal "blameamericafirsters" would like to pretend they don't how to define the word moustache, but no one else disputes Hussein's facial hair. Words mean things my friends.

Our intelligence services agreed with Vice President Cheney that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. We didn't find any of what was alleged.

However as everyone can see above, 3 out of 4 assertions made--or grudgingly assented to--by our intelligence services were absolutely correct, and only 1 assertion was false. A record of getting it 75% right is very good performance in intelligence work. It is inarguably better than flipping a coin, and even if it had not come up to that recognized standard of 50/50, one could still say with Senator Santorum that "much of our intelligence was true" with absolute and total justification.
