Poll question: How old were you when you learned.... |
|
1. Chew with your mouth closed; 2. Don't talk with your mouth full; 3. No's 1 and 2 are especially important with "company."

Surely, as adults, there's more important things to focus on...

7. Oooh, I'm "obsessed!!" |
|
Sorry if this was discussed to death here -- I haven't had a chance to check in much lately.
It didn't take much time away from focusing on important things.
And speaking of important things, I think the President of the United States demonstrating his lack of statesmanship has been an important thing since he took office, but showing lack of tact to the point of ignorance of basic toddler manners is really an embarrassing representation of our country. There's just no reason or excuse for it, and don't make the mistake of thinking we are the only people in the world aware of it.

21. Because this guy is supposed to be leader of the free world |
|
and he doesn't even know how to chew with his mouth closed in front of the entire world. Forget about the swearing, most people do. But the fact that he hasn't managed to master basic etiquette expected of 3-5-year-olds has to say something important about him. I think that's the reason for the obsession with this...

26. Shld we focus on this..."Volunteers put the bodies, many of them childre." |
|
"In south Lebanon, soldiers buried 72 people killed in recent bombings in a mass grave just outside a barracks in the city of Tyre. Volunteers put the bodies, many of them children, in wooden coffins and spray-painted the names of the dead on the lids."
- or maybe this -
"Death toll mounts The Lebanese health ministry reported 362 deaths in Lebanon so far in the onslaught, an increase of 55 since it released figures on Thursday. Thirty-four Israelis also have been killed, including 18 soldiers and an air force officer killed Friday in the collision of two helicopters."
And today the leader of the free world and president of the greatest country in the world made a statement in response to the bloodshed, "...uhh..chew, chew, Hessbowller just needs to cut that shit out!..."
There you have it folks. Words of wisdom from the President of the United States of America.
Bush and Blair are like Beavis and Butthead. Bush - "Hessboller needs to cut that shit out." Blair - "I am Cornholio, I need T.P. for my bunghole."
We focus on this cause sometimes you need a little comic relief. And that's the only thing Bush is good for.

27. Btw, what are you focusing on? |

Oh yes.... The argument that "Bush/Republicans could be PERFECT and you know we'd all say they were horrible! LOL! LOL!"
Seems to be your recurring theme.
Take a tip from Beethoven: themes need some development, variation, or transformation to keep an audience...

9. I went with the first option, but I have to add a disclaimer: |
|
I STILL have to nag my kids.
In fact, I also had to nag my siblings, even as teens.
Why do some people DO that? It's DISGUSTING.

15. I think some people with "casual" manners in some circumstances... |
|
still know what to do when it matters... And when ANY representative of the US is in public, it matters.
(Older sisters can be the strictest enforcers! Mine made SURE I never acted wrongly...)
(I wonder if "Blair" was suppressing an urge to correct the Chimp?)

see red when people eat like that.
I've often had to leave the room to avoid it!
And yes, there's definitely a difference between dinner at home, and a state dinner.
You might have guessed with his blue-blood upbringing someone, somewhere, might have slapped some manners into him.
And yes, teehee, we older sisters can be tough like that.

.... Babs was never much into that 'nurture' crap.
And as an example offered as proof ... we all know that when Queen Elizabeth was invited to break breab with Poppy and babs, Junior was seated as far from her possible cuz they worried he'd embarras them.

16. Did he have a series of nannies or governesses |
|
or did she really actually raise them herself?
Come to think of it, I've worked in a couple of rather elite private schools, where the rudest children's parents insisted it was the teachers' jobs alone to teach them how to behave!!! Teachers were just the servants they passed the kids to -- maybe something like that went on.
SOMEthing went terribly wrong. (That boy ain't right.)

He had keepers. Like animals have.
Remember that 'Now .... watch this drive' crack? He learned that from babs. She was heard to say 'Bury my kid ...... now watch this serve'.
They all need keepers.

It does sound petty to make a big deal out of this but at the same time I think it's fair to expect the President and ostensible "Leader of the Free World" to have basic table manners. If he has so little self-discipline in one of the most simple acts of civilized behavior, what does that say about trusting him to do anything important?
