Have our Democratic representatives done anything right?
Of course a few have but most, in my opinion, are failing to do their job. The only excuse appears to be money that comes from their corporate donors.

Just watched John Dean on C-span books and he was describing authoritian types of people, how our present govt. is full of them. They are bullies, my words. Our Dem. representatives seem to have fallen into their power or have been out gamed.

2. Hopefully not. They are supposed to be doing things left.
And if they ever get the power to do anything at all, I'll start holding them accountable. Until then, I will blame the guilty, meaning the Republicans, rather than the victims, meaning the Dems. You don't blame the wife for being beaten, especially when her hands are tied behind her back.

3. They seem to be ducking
and hoping the GOP will implode. They don't seem to be pounding away on even the things that most voters can agree on, like Iraq was at best horribly mismanaged and probably a mistake, deficits are bad and we need to do something about gas prices. What I really don't like is how some democrats are just pandering to the people and spouting GOP talking points on issues like the Inheritance tax or tax cuts in general, CAFTA, no child left behind, the prescription drug debacle and social security privatization instead of trying to educate the voters, they just play into what voters THINK they know based on what Rush Limbaugh told them. If we agree with GOP frames instead of challenging them, we're spotting them 2 touchdowns before the game even starts.

even starts", I like that analogy when we agree with the GOP's framing!

4. The virtues of Dem gains eclipse the deceit and abandonment of GOP
reps by cosmic miles.

It's not even close.

Stay blue.

5. We are so close to the Nov. election and fear is setting in
Bush is close to allowing total chaos around the world, seems to be his goal! Our Congressmen should vote almost unanimously against the repubs on critical issues, they don't demand oversight on the state of intelligence in our own country, I know, we don't have the votes, but a walk-out or shutdown would get some attention to how critcal many of these issues are. There is no doubt we must overcome the right wing media, they don't appear to care whether they are impartial. The war drums are beating on CNN, MSNBC, etc. like it's a docudrama. It is disgusting.

6. Well, turn those media outlets off and volunteer for a Congressional
candidate or two.

Maybe write a check to a worthy Democratic fighting the good fight.

Send a letter in to your local newspaper to praise the people-directed positions of a good blue candidate.

Try to hook up with some other Dems in your area and the bunch of you go door-to-door for local Dem nominees.

Howard Dean presides over a 50-state grassroots party now. I say we throw in and give it every chance we can.

8. Great Job, Crusoe
I wish we could have your post tattoed into every Dems head. But alas, we will have two more years of Dems doing nothing but whining and looking for a third party.

And then they'll wonder why the Dems lost.

18. Some will, but so many others will throw in and help.
A lot of people are good pals and buddies because of the Democratic primaries in 2004.

I think the potential for that is even greater now, and I think a large number of us will be in there fighting for Congress in 06.

9. Years ago worked a phone bank for a local politician
and was scared I'd do more harm than good by saying the wrong thing. Some people are better equipped to do that sort of thing. Also, if I were 10 years younger it would help, I'd love getting involved. Money is a do-able option.

Whether I watch the news isn't important, the masses only have time for very little viewing so they get those sound bites, remember flip - flop? It is unbelievable what people retain from 30 min. of news at nite. People don't like bush but they still think the Dems are weak on keeping this country secure!

19. Agree that the GOP has held that 'security issue' advantage up to now.
But Bush's foreign policy is a holy mess and I think a very strong case can be made that the Republicans are a pack of betrayers, either clueless or corrupt, or both.

I think things turn our way from this point forward.

The fewer Republicans there are around the Capitol building, the better off we all are.

7. Let's See
They don't control the House, The Senate, The Judicial. And the media and the CIA have been taken over by The Pentagon.

So I guess they have given brainless Dems something to whine about.

What have you done.

10. How about if the Dems voted NO more
Alito was the perfect time to force a filibuster. Reid tried to call a halt to proceedings in the Senate when he wasn't given info on intelligence he had requested. That was great, just doesn't happen often enough.

13. Has the Republican-led House, Senate, Administration, and Judiciary
done anything to promote the welfare of the nation as a whole since seizing power?

I prefer to applaud the defense the Democrats have managed so far.

Phrasing matters, yes, indeed.

16. They better begin soon
So far they have gone along with just about everything bush has wanted . They need to stop worring about their future in politics because at the rate they are going they will soon be silenced even if we vote them back in office .

I don't understand why they can't stick together on any issue and leave their sell out attitude at home .

26. Those were 2 very popular issues with the masses
Social Security could really hurt some repubs if they are for diminishing it to any extent and Stem-Cell falls in the same category. Hopefully, those in the repub party that voted against those 2 issues will pay dearly!!

We bash Biden and Hillary for playing the middle but, at least they get face time on tv. Whatever gets us votes I will root for. They just need to make more noise, this coming election is unbelievably important - - investigations, subpoena power, etc.
