Ava Lowery, 15 y/o, Creates TV Ad for US Senate Candidate
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/7/23/19415/4499

Providence, Rhode Island - Business owner, Marine veteran and progressive democrat Carl Sheeler, who for the past six months has displayed the "Be Patriotic Impeach Bush" billboard along I-95, announced a series of ads that will share many firsts. The initial 30 second spot will be launched on most Rhode Island Channels during the weekend of July 29.

What's unique about Sheeler’s ad is that it is entirely produced by a 15 year old from rural Alabama, Ava Lowery, who hosts the website www.peacetakescourage.com.

Ms. Lowery interviewed and endorsed Sheeler’s Rhode Island U.S. Senate bid. Her support was due in part to Sheeler’s positive and bold vision. Like Sheeler, Ms. Lowery wants our troops home now and is opposed to President Bush’s exceeding his executive authority.

Ms. Lowery has crafted dozens of vivid and emotional videos viewed internationally from her website earning attention by CNN, New York Times and Daily Kos.

The television ad has no spoken commentary and is entirely music and visual with images including a flag waving at Arlington cemetery and Sheeler standing with Rhode Island’s oldest living Marine (91) and youngest women Marines (19). It may be viewed at Sheeler’s US Senate home page www.carlsheeler.com.

Sheeler is considered the likable, articulate underdog in a September 12 Democratic primary against better funded, patrician Sheldon Whitehouse. Sheeler stated, “Our kids should believe we can make a difference in our communities and create a better planet in ten years. It is critical to see the world from the purity of our youth’s perspective, not DC advisors building up their limousine liberal candidates with expensive media buys and plastic messages.”

3. One of my more articulate posts...LOL
In 10 years I'd like to see (in no particular order)

- industrial hemp legalized and playing its role in providing alternative and pro-environment fuels and products
- civil rights restored
- medical decisions in the hands of the persons concerned and their medical provider
- government working FOR the PEOPLE
- corporate personhood removed and outlawed
- science and ethical research for the "common good" lauded and practiced
- hatred and violence ridiculed and labeled anti-survival and the practitioners of hatred and violence ostracized from society
- restoration of lands destroyed through corporate greed with corporations footing the bill
- violence removed from options for conflict resolution

- the cabal of perpetrators of this madness serving time for their roles in this; let out only to provide aid and service for the common good, their money, assets and holdings in the custody of the government for use in repairing the damage they've done and to promote the common good

- homelessness eliminated
- hunger eliminated
- poverty eliminated
- war eliminated and vilified and its practitioners ridiculed and ostracized from the world stage

For starters.

5. 1 - I vote
2 - I organize and recruit like minded souls
3 - I educate anyone I can get to stand still long enough to listen; like minded or not
4 - I do the things I listed in this post: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1715515&mesg_id=1715998 (see paragraph just before Ghandi quote)
5 - Currently looking to find gainful employment getting paid to do that which I used to be able to afford to do for free, that is, organize, protest, educate, motivate, create community, help create the changes I listed in previous post
6 - keep myself healthy and informed so I can continue to do what I've done for years; enlighten, question authority, question "truth," educate, speak out...
7 - I live my beliefs to the best of my ability each day - I am (almost) the change I want to see

12. Depends who and what you trust
Survey USA which is based upon favorable and least favorable would put us at a statistical deadheat at 45% and 43%; however, Sheldon spent $1 million on ads during the past month and Rassmussen slammed me. Sheldon has ben everywhere in the past year from 26% to over 46%, so let' see after our ad buy begins and help from my netroots supporters.
