Impeach....Yes!
What will it take to get our do nothing congress to impeach this impostor in office? What will it take?

How long must we wait? I know that some hope for a 2006 victory for Dems to take over both the house and Senate...but you know what I do not think that's enough. Even with a Dem majority...it is going to be the sane Repubs that must make it happen. When will those currently serving take action?

What does it take? More war?...The US is already seen as a war monger. Less support overseas?...Even Blair has now broken ranks. More innocent lives lost?...Is it OK that they are Lebonese...or Iraqi...or soon Iranian or Syrian?...Or US Soldiers? Will it take more spying? More disregard for the rule of law...and total disregard of Congressional oversight? More poverty in the US? More lies and deceit?

We are past the time...

1. It takes us to keep agitating for it...
Visualize IMPEACHMENT - then go do something to make it happen!!

And...

Never Give Up.

10. Can I just add one big, fat, hearty "SECOND!" to that?
It's.

Up.

To.

Us.

Support John Conyers and demand that your congresscritters do likewise. Keep aggitating. Keep writing LTTEs. Keep calling, faxing, nagging. Demand that your LOCAL people (city council, aldermen, state assembly, state senate, mayor, county supervisors, WHOEVER) to introduce LOCAL RESOLUTIONS FOR IMPEACHMENT - to be sent to Congress. We can do it, as citizens, by GOING AROUND Congress if Congress refuses to act. That IS an option.

Keep aggitating. Remind them that THEY work for US. IT'S NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!! Look what the noisy gongs and clanging cymbals from the Dark Side have accomplished - and they're nowhere near the majority. And with even a few victories, that demonstrates momentum, AND the possible.

This.

IS.

Possible!

Remember what the Good Doctor Dean said: "The only way we lose is if we give up!" So don't do it. NEVER Give Up.

2. Republicans used Whitewater to win seats in 1994..
Democrats used Watergate to pickup seats in 1974. Republicans are idiots to simply look the other way while this unpopular slime breaks the law, but Democrats are history if they don't take such a golden opportunity to win back Congress!

4. What will impeachment do?
I think impeachment will get the republican base really angry & if it passes they will hold it against the democratic party for a long time to come. What we need is to have more oversight hearings (NSA spying, Halliburton contracts, Bush disregarding constitution etc.). With oversight hearings they will be spaced out to show a continuous circle of lies & deceit by this administration.

5. I am certainly not worried about making the repugs angry
I could care less about making republicans angry. In fact, I live for the day when they are as angry as I am.

Who cares if they hold it against us? Like they could hate us more?

Did Clinton's impeachment help the Dems? Not at all. The republican base is the republican base, they are not going to vote democratic anyway.

When we impeach, we will be making a statement for history's sake.

11. Couldn't second this one heartily enough, either!
There IS something else you could always do, I suppose.

You could just give up, and go back to bed. Or not care. Or live with hopelessness in the pit of your stomach (and don't forget your Tums!). That way, you're GUARANTEED to see nothing accomplished AT ALL. You GUARANTEE the bad guys yet another ill-gotten gain and undeserved, unchallenged victory. You give them free rein - AGAIN.

And I'm pretty sure you don't want to do that.

If they don't comply, the very LEAST we can do is make them miserable with our nagging and confrontations and demands and insistence. NEVER LET UP. NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER LET THEM REST. If they stand by this, make it FUCKING PAINFUL for them to do so. If they insist on clinging to the status quo, MAKE THEM PAY FOR IT.

I'm sick of another sleepless night in a continuing series. High time we shared the wealth on that particular score. Give THEM some sleepless nights, for a change.

There is NO BETTER TIME in the last five-and-a-half miserable years to do that - than NOW. B ecause their "precious" president is down on his luck, and his shit's caught up with him. The press can't help itself, writing at least a few more things day-by-day about how the whole world is now in such a mess - "ON HIS WATCH." There ARE a few more voices from our side articulating that every day in the media. Still not enough to counter-act the limbots and Pox "news" effect, but we ARE making inroads. More questions are coming up all the time, and being allowed to see the light of day. And more of the bad guys are facing legal trouble, bribery scandals blown wide open, the Abramoff effect, and a lot of other fun stuff - FAR MORE of their guys than ours. FAR MORE.

Please believe me - their heads are NOT resting comfortably on their pillows at night. We've seen article after article describing "worried republi-CONS" and more and more stories about the increasing probability that the Dems might take back either the House or the Senate OR BOTH.

THIS IS NOT A FUN TIME TO BE A republi-CON, OR A CONservative! It's not fun at all. They've had the whole ball game for some time now, and they're only seeing grief and bad results and bad press for it. It's like Bill Maher once stated on his show, in a rant directed at bush - "this job can't be fun for you anymore." Well, it's very likely not fun for a whole heap of his minions and apologists who see public opinion turning against them, moreso every time some bomb goes off in the Middle East (and THAT is becoming more and more frequent). THIS IS NOT A FUN TIME TO BE A republi-CON. Their glory days are far behind them, and they're chin-deep in quicksand of their own creation. And deep-down, I guarantee you, more than a few of them recognize this. And more than a few of them are sitting in, and now are being forced to defend, seats that they'd once presumed were a lock. I'll bet there's a frickin' shitload of Maalox being gulped all over Capitol Hill and surrounding areas. The LEAST we can do is further aggravate that condition.

8. What will impeachment do.....?
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 12:52 PM by BrewAz
Impeachment will point out to the rest of the world that NOT ALL Americans are blind, dumb and happy when the country is taken over by an idealogical cabal.

Impeachment will strengthen what has made this country great...and what it has meant for 230+ years: a balance of power and democratically elected representatives who act for the good of the citizens rather than for the good of their own pockets.

Impeachment will once again put the United States back on solid political footing...rather than this slippery slope of lies, half truths and deceit that has taken over the administration of the country.

Impeachment will cleanse the caustic air and start the process to bring this country back together again.

Impeachment will put the power of Democracy back where it belongs...the hands of the people guided by a constitution and rule of law.

Impeachment will put the Bush Administration where it belongs...in the unemployment lines.
