Harold Ford, Jr. out-raised all 3 Rethug candidates in TN senate race..
And not just out-raised them, he brought in more than all three combined!

Meanwhile, the Republican with a lead in the R-primary in TN, Bob Corker, wound up writing a check to himself for funds.

I'm just saying.. on all the U.S. Senate posts we take "guesstamates" on here, Tennessee is never considered as a potential pick-up.

I don't think we should count HF, jr. out..

2. I've been kinda quiet on my old stomping ground's race .......
.... but I've always thought young Harold could win statewide. I lived two years in Chattanooga and three years in Memphis. I honestly think there's just enough (southern style) progressivism to allow a man likke Harold Ford Jr. to win statewide.

4. TN is never considered a potential pickup???
Tenn. is ALWAYS considered a potential pickup, just not as likely as Penn., Ohio, Montana and Rhode Island. I've been handicapping the Senate races for months now, and I've had Tenn. as a possible Dem. pickup for at least half a year, IIRC. I doubt you'll find many people who just dismiss it out of hand as an impossibility.

That said, it's a good thing Ford got all that money, cause he's gonna need it. It's going to be a tough race, especially if Corker beats Bryant and Hilleary.

11. Well~ I'm going by the threads that I read on here, this one for example:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2737473

That thread from yesterday suggested that if we gain seats, they would be in:

.... "Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island"

It's just not all that often that Tennessee shows up on DU when someone creates those "possible senate pick-up" posts..

Ah well.. agree or disagree.. gotta love our DU comrades anyway!

5. Good news!
Here in Knoxville, you'd think the primary between the three stooges is the general election, and the only debate has been who who can out-conservative the others. I almost expect to hear people express shock and dismay to learn they have to go to the polls again in a few months.

8. I hope that one reason is also that Rs are not donating like they have
I hope that they're waking up and abandoning making even small donations to Repuke candidates.

9. Also, the 3 Repukes are running smear ads against each other!
Actually, Bryant and Hilleary are double-teaming Corker because he's in front. ButCorker is lashing out at both of them.

By the end of the primary, everybody will hate all 3 of them.

Meanwhile, Kurita dropped out so Ford is running unopposed for the primary. He get's to save all his funds for the General Election.

TN will have a Dem Senator again in November!
:toast:

16. Its actually ironic...
Bryant and Hilleary are blasting Corker for being too moderate, but that will help Corker in the general election.

cant bring myself to predict a Ford victory. The odds are greatly stacked against him, even in a democratic year.

14. Looks certain Ford's opponent will be Corker
New Survey USA poll today, with Corker leading 49-29-15 in the GOP primary: http://www.surveyusa.com/client/PollReportPopup.aspx?g=6d55abe2-8cad-446b-a407-e28f23209ec0&q=28028

This race will be much higher profile once the primary is over.

15. I like Harold Ford.
He knows who he is, is more moderate than I care for but probably perfect for his state, is intelligent and articulate, plus he's seriously cute.
