U.S Senate Candidate Charged With Rape And Assault

(WJZ/AP) SPARKS, Md. A Baltimore County man running in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his 19-year-old wife, police said Monday.

David B. Dickerson, 43, was charged Saturday with second-degree rape and second-degree assault, as well as a fourth-degree sex offense.

Dickerson, who was released on $100,000 bail, denied the charges, said Craig Kadish, his attorney.

Anna Dickerson told police that David Dickerson slapped her July 21 and forced her to have sexual intercourse. Anna Dickerson described a history of such assaults dating to the beginning of the couple's marriage in Latvia in June 2005, according to court documents.

There are 18 candidates for US Senate for Paul Sarbanes open seat in Maryland. Anyone with enough signatures can qualify for this race.

The two front runners for this race are clearly Rep. Ben Carden and former NAACP president Kweisi Mfume. Both of them are around 40% of the vote with Carden in the lead.

I find it offensive that the orginal poster didn't even take the time to research that this wasn't even a viable candidate who could hope to see more than 2% of the votes in the Maryland primary.

This race is safe and both Carden and Mfume have polled with leads over leading republican candidate Michael Steel

I've also PM'd the post and asked that the title be changed because the title makes it seem like the democratic frontrunner of the senate race is the one who committed the crime instead of some guy who hounded up enough votes to get in the race but probably won't get much further than that.

I live in Maryland and have met the 2 front runners as well as several other, well qualified candidates vying for this seat. This putz was not even remotely in the run for the seat. So whats up with the title of this post?
