Is this bad news ? Rush & Dr. Laura Radio #1 in Los Angeles
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 05:09 PM by Sam Odom
LOS ANGELES, July 25 (UPI) -- AM radio stations in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago and San Diego are showing the band remains relevant with all finishing in the Top 5 in overall ratings.

KFI-AM, Los Angeles, was the first AM station in Southern California in two decades to finish No. 1 in the overall ratings, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

2. LOL
I'm in San Diego (red city) so I wasn't surprised about KOGO being #1 but LA was a shocker.

4. I'd like to see the hourly
Even if Limpdick beats O'Really, I can't believe that Dr. Laura beats Hannity and Medved (who I think are the other AM shows during the same time slot).

The only thing I can say is ... there must be a lot of people out there whose cars only have AM radios. Also, this is coming from the station's website, so they may be massaging their "facts" here.

5. KFI is a real strong signal ......
Where I live in Riverside is the only LA AM radio station that comes in strong. They cover a lot of area and I have heard, but don't know if it is really true, that KFI can be heard in Arizona at certain times.

The more they reach the more listeners.

9. I used to hear it in Phoenix
when I travelled there on business from L.A.

KFI is one of the old-fashioned Clear Channel stations, from back when the term
referred to signal strength. When I was a kid, and the radio dials had to be
tuned to the frequencies (yes, I am that old), KFI's position on the dial had the
Civil Defense triangle on it.

mention porn photo laura and viagra boy, just the wahoozer who does morning drive.

the LA market is extremely fractured into small bits. KFI at best draws less than 5% of the available listening audience at hits peak times.

PS - here in Riverside we can get quite a few Los Angeles AM stations during the day, but at night they drop out.

7. KFI is B-I-G in LA area.
They're the #1 AM station and, as others have pointed out, has a huge signal.

10. Know thy enemy.
They listen for the same reasons they go to a zoo and slow down at a car accident or follow the news of the war(s).

11. I listen to 3-4hrs of KFI weekly
because of Leo Laporte's KFI Podcast.

I do not think I could handle the rest of the schedule.

One reason why KFI is doing better probably has to do with the fact they Podcast almost all their shows, adding to the audience, even worldwide.

13. That's Quite a Jump 4.8
from a 3.9 one year ago. One time I had 3 Arbitron books and low and behold my favorite little alternative station had it's biggest jump ever. They are actually tied for first w/ one of the Spanish stations.
