1. Here's where to find your local events....we have 38 in Florida.
Which I think is very very good for our state.

Search by zip code or just by state.

2. From Blue Oregon, a plea by them for us to have Howard's back.
Jenny is a DNC committeewoman for Oregon, began the American Street blog, and is very active in the party.

This is great and tells what's going on in Oregon Saturday.

This Saturday: Will you have Howard's back?

When the DNC members elected Gov. Howard Dean chair of the Democratic Party, we did so because of his determination to make the Democratic Party a 50-state party. I personally received hundreds of emails, postcards, and letters asking me to vote for Dean based on his strategy.

Dean made good on his part of the promise, quickly funding organizers on the ground in every state. We have four talented people (Autumn Wilburn, Justin Thiltgen, Cyreena Boston, and Jesse Bontecou) working every single day to organize Democrats here in Oregon.

Gov. Dean has often been assailed by the establishment wing of the party, which seems to prefer that money flowing into DNC coffers be used for TV ads in targeted races. Like most DNC members, I believe that the 50-state strategy is the right direction: We need to fight in every district, in every race that we can. We need to build our farm teams by electing state legislators, governors, mayors, county commissioners, and sheriffs.

So, Dean kept his part of the bargain. Will you? Will you go out and work for candidates and show that people-powered politics, rather than triangulation and targeting, can keep the red tide at bay?

She says other things going that she knows of are "a picnic in Klamath, ice cream in Corvallis, a highway cleanup in Florence, and canvasses throughout the Willamette Valley. "

3. Check back tomorrow to see who's "doing stuff" on Saturday.
I don't think a lot of people are. Small steps to doing things the new way.

4. I'm having our local congressional candidate over for a do
along with whoever else can drag themselves out in this heat. ( It's as humid as a Florida locker room at halftime)

I suspect I'll feature cold, white wines.

Any DUers in Ventura County, look up zip 91360 in the Dem Reunion page.

5. Well, good luck in all that heat.
That sounds like a very good idea. Doesn't look like too many are having things.

8. Our county chair just told me that new people are signing up.
I think that is great. I am so sorry that our state Democratic party leaders did not even MENTION it at the website.

http://www.fladems.com/

There are over 40 events in Florida, yet it is not even mentioned at the FlaDems website.

9. How many state parties have mentioned this event on their website?
Just curious if anyone noticed. Florida didn't, or at least I can not find it.

11. Here's where to upload pics and videos from your Dem Reunion
Dear Fellow Democrat,

I'm Jason León, one of the staffers working to make the Democratic Reunion a success. There's a lot of excitement around the building this week as everyone gets ready for Saturday, and I wanted to take a minute to thank you for being part of the Democratic Reunion. You're at the forefront of a historic movement to build our party from the ground up everywhere, and it's inspiring to see so much happening in every single state.

Three last-minute reminders for your event:

Bring your passion
Bring some friends
Bring a camera (or a video camera)
There's still time to let others know that they can be part of your event. Send one more email, make one more phone call -- if you can get folks involved who would have otherwise missed this event, you're dramatically increasing the likelihood that they'll get more involved in this election.

And please remember to bring your camera. We're looking for photos and feedback from all the Democratic Reunion events, so take your camera, snap some photos, and send them in to democraticreunion@dnc.org. (If you're a Flickr user, be sure to upload your photos to the Democratic Party pool: http://www.flickr.com/groups/democraticflickr/ If you use YouTube and have video, be sure to upload it to the Democrats group: http://www.youtube.com/group/democrats.)

If we're going to win in November, we have to get out now and build the networks and relationships that will deliver victory on Election Day. The Democratic Reunion is our time to come together and commit to working through the final 100 days, and you're making it happen.

Whatever your issue, whatever your top priority for our country, if you want change and a new direction for America, we have to build this party from the ground up in neighborhoods like yours.

You're part of something big.

Thanks,
Jason

Jason León
Deputy Political Director
Democratic National Committee

I wish more people were going or posting about their area. We are looking forward to ours.

And if you have never visited the democraticflickr site, you should. Lots of great pictures of various events. Here's the main page:

There are pics of the previous Door to Door, and from the meeting and activism in the Lower Ninth Ward during that meeting. One of my favorites, from page 3 of the pictures, is of Dean going door to door in NC.

12. More than double the number expected in Western PA today.
From Tracy at the DNC blog:

"It looks like things are off to a great start for The Democratic Reunion.

I just got word from one of the staffers traveling with Governor Dean in Western PA - they have had more than double the amount of people expected at their reunion.

Keep the stories coming in. Pictures and video too!"

13. Nothing this weekend, thankfully
But more often than not I'm going to some event or other on weekends. During the week I dod the day to day stuff for a state Hosue race and run a congressional District with 14 counties.

Thankfully in Michigan we have a state Dem party and have a great chair, Mark Brewer. Here's a link to the MDP homepage: http://www.michigandems.com/index.html

Here's some of what's goin on with local Dems across the state: http://www.michigandems.com/calendar.html

Thanks for posting the info MF! Hope you're having a great weekend! :hi:
