Question for Tarheel State DUers |
specifically those of you from the 11th Congressional District. How did Heath Shuler come to be the nominee? Meaning, did he have to run in and win a primary or did he get the nod through some other means? Thank you.

1. I used to live in NC-11 |
I went to Western Carolina University and I lived in Asheville for a number of years. To be honest, I don't know the answer to your question--I haven't really researched it. But I'm not really concerned how he got the nod, I'm just excited that Charles Taylor has a true competition on his hands. He was my Representative the entire time I lived there, and I didn't see how he did much for his constituents.
Time for Taylor to go! I'm excited to see how this race turns out! :)

2. Actually, Taylor has always had competition |
His easiest win was with just over 60% of the vote (back in the 90's) and his opponent has always been fairly well financed, some better than others. Thank you for the response, I've spent a lot of my life in the 11th.

4. I certainly wish him luck |
Taylor is a transparent sleaze. I wish Shuler could show a more progressive side but the 11th is a lot more than just Asheville.
