Michael Schiavo to endorse Ned Lamont tomorrow
http://lamontblog.blogspot.com/2006/07/michael-schiavo-to-endorse-lamont.html

Good timing! As the Clinton-Lieberman lovefest wanes, remind people of the real reasons to oppose "Holy" Joe Lieberman.

1. 16-month-old issue comes back to bite Joe
I wonder how much impact a Florida story will have in Connecticut though.

5. I think it will have a lot of impact .....
.... not the endorsement, per se, but the ability of it to give Lamont a platform to speak about privacy and about Holy's again being out of step with most people. That was a truly national story and an orgy of self-righteous religious pandering that just plain pissed off the country.

2. Don't blame him for this...
Lieberman was dead wrong on the Schiavo matter. He talks about how law is an expression of our values...and he was right. And the law was clearly on the side of Michael and Terri Schiavo. It was the Republicans in COngress and fundie Christians who tried to pervert that law! ANd unfortunately, people like Jesse Jackson and Joe Lieberman chose the wrong side of this issue!

3. Has Joe ever admitted he was wrong on this issue?
If so, then I won't blame him.

4. No, Joe has never said he was wrong about his stand in the Schiavo case
Like Bush, Joe is never wrong. </sarcasm>

6. The sanctimonious nature that Joe has taken up
is really annoying. He thinks that he is always right.

8. Schiavo to endorse Lamont
I'm glad I don't have to vote in Conn. I couldn't support Lamont if he continues his support of Israel's aggression and I think Schiavo is wicked. I know if my son-in-law wanted my daughter to die and I wanted her to live, knowing that he had a new family, had gotten a settlement for her and did not spend it to enhance her care, like physical therapy. I don't think I could control myself. Those parents were more than willing to care for their daughter. Wouldn't even tell them where she was buried, and did bury her hundreds of miles from those who loved her. I think he should stay out of the spotlight and not bring anymore pain to anyone.

9. If that's what you think you know about Michael Schiavo
then I guess I'd have to say maybe you should reconsider voting at all.

10. The Schiavo affair was nobody's business but theirs.
And Holy Joe should've known it!

12. You need to do some research, indygirl.
And regardless of what you think you know about the Schiavo family situation, do you really think that the federal government has any business making family decisions about who lives or dies?

13. That is a lie. They did know where she was buried.
You must be listening to right wing radio way way too much. The government should have stayed out of it.

14. I didn't say the government should have or shouldn't have gotten involved
I think Schiavo should have let her live, she was not on any lifesaving machines she was only being fed with a tube. He is a nurse now would you want to be in a hospital under his watch?
I don't think his campaigning for dems. is a benefit. He's had his 15 mins of shame, I mean fame.
And who ever said that her parents knew at the time where she was buried is wrong. It was several weeks after the burial when they found out that he had taken her out of state. It's true he was under a court order to inform them but he didn't. When there is a tragedy like this why would anyone be so mean. If I hated my husband's parents I still couldn't treat them that way. I just think there are better people to represent the party. Why not ask Wes Clark he's going out campaigning for dems. and is a much better representative of the party. At least get someone not so controversial. The GOPers are suppose to be the party of hate.

16. You are listening to right wing radio.
Just that simple. They are filling your brain full of things that are untrue. That is just so sad.

18. What is sad is
you are arguing your side of it and not being open enough to the truth. I have never listened to Rush nor any RW propaganda. I am a strong democrat but like in a marriage, a religion, a job, etc I can't walk lock step when I feel something is wrong in that association. If you listened to and read the news instead of being spoon fed by the sources that are of one opinion you would know better. The remark of Terri being a carcass is absolutely repulsive, would you want your loved one referred to that way?

19. Would you want your loved ones's body on display for 15 years after
they died?

Terri died a long time ago.

17. I agree that you must be listening to
right wing radio because you are repeating all the babble and nonsense that Limbaugh and his ilk make up. It's pretty obvious. :eyes:

He didn't spend any money to advance her care?

That is not correct.

The only people who brought pain to others in this mess, were the gop, american taliban, Randall Terry, and to some extent her parents.

Terri's carcass(Let us be honest here, that is all that was left) had suffered long enough.

11. The Schiavo case was very interesting from the start.
I normally don't get into contentious media pieces, but I had a nose for this one and was not surprised when the president and Congress got involved in order to appeal to the fundimentalist Christian base.

This was the most blatent appeal to theocracy I've witnessed in U.S. government, and it was truly frightening.
