You ever notice how, when eating cheerios (or fruit loops) and there are only a few left, they cling together for safety? It's a last gasp effort for survival in the face of impending doom

I was reminded of that when reading this email:

Hilarious. Deseprate to give its product away for free, TNR may have found one of the few organizations in worse shape than they are.

I gave up in 2001. TNR once great, even greater I hear before my time, has become a tragedy.

I grew up in a household that subscribed to both the The Nation and TNR; then TNR was bought by Martin Peretz, and turned into a pro-Israel/Likud rag; they stopped subscribing around 1968 or so.
