3. This was pretty interesting.
Feingold was the top of mine, and Kucinich second.

Something really scarey happened on mine,. however. Newt Gingrich came in sixth, and Al Gore seventh, and I am a big fan of Al Gore. What do you think of that?

NEWT GINGRICH? They must have gotten something backwards about that money for private schools. I'm sure he would want money for private schools, where I said no.

9. Flawed concept
Some issues are deal breakers. The issues are like:

Do you want to be killed? yes or no
Do you want to have your arms cut off? yes or no
Do you want to have your nose tweaked? yes or no

The implications of this type of selector thingy and the opinion I often read expressed is, sure candidate X wants to kill you, but he's really good on not wanting you to have your nose tweaked or your arms cut off.

So, the deal breaker now is, do they believe that the lives of arabs are less valuable than the lives of others? Maybe Kucinich fits that requirement. I don't know the opinions of all of them. The ones I know are anti-arab, so I can't vote for them.

14. The Information is skewed
I did this the other day with the results: Kucinich, Clark, and Feingold. But if you check, you'll see that some information is missing, and some of it is just plain wrong.

I don't want to the burst bubble, and I can more than live with the results, but I think they need to fix this.

Several of us emailed them on errors, but months later they are still there.
I suspect they have an agenda - and don't care if they are honest.

17. Odd
My top five in order were Edwards, Kucinich, Biden, Gore, and Clark. It's odd because Edwards is my top choice, but where did Kucinich come from? I like the guy, but he's way down the list for me when it comes to presidential candidates. Biden is odd, too. But hey, I'd be happy enough with Gore or Clark.

My actual top 3, in order, would be Edwards, Clark, and Gore. So, apparently this thing isn't totally screwed.

Not so sure about Biden being in my top 5. Kind of weird that romney is ahead of Bayh.

My number 1 is right where he should be.

25. Hey Dinger, how did you fool the tabulator?
I played around with my answers and couldn't get Clark to come up #1 for nothin'

In the primaries, at the very end, I voted for Clark, because I campaigned for him, but I struggled with my consicence in the booth wanting to vote for Kucinich. Now he comes up as #1 in my ranking, too strange.

30. No one!
When did Bill Clinton move to the head of the line in 1991?

And before 2003, Joe Lieberman headed all the polls with his name recognition.

So much can change from now until, say, December 2007.

Back to Clinton. In 1991 poppy Bush was enjoying high approval rating, what with the first Gulf War and I am sure that many Democrats lived to regret it that they decided to sit that one out not to run against a popular sitting president.

First let's get through 2006, see if anything has left of the Democratic party.

And for those of you who hate the DLC - Clinton was a DLC and he was the first Democratic President to be re-elected since FDR in 1944!

What about Reagan and Nixon?

Edited on Sat Jul-29-06 03:58 PM by gulliver
1. What are my preferences in terms of a candidate's general wussiness?
o Lets the Republicans get away with saying anything.
o Attacks the Repulicans viciously

2. What are my preferences for a candidate's style of communication?
o Must be plain-spoken, honest, and unafraid to defend his/her own positions
o Must be a careful political calculator who says nothing without focus group vetting

3. What are my preferences as far as electability?
o I don't care if my candidate is electable. It's not winning, it's how you play the game.
o I want a candidate who only appeals to Democrats
o I want to win
