Israel, Iraq, War, Peace, and Politics |
|
Lets try to seperate these issues.
From where I am sitting, heres my thought.
Israel was founded in error and should not have been created. The reality is, however, that they DO exist.
The Arab nations around Israel have a genuine cause for grievance, however their behavior is childish and vindictive.
Israel then has been founded in error but is behaving approprietely.
The arab nations were wronged but are wholly without sympathy from me because they seem to have no notion of prudence or diplomacy.
I read Lamont supports Israel and how its a strike against him... Why? Why is Iraq and Israel/Lebannon equatable? THEY AINT THE SAME STORY.
Iraq - a war of choice waged against a people that meant us no harm.
Lebannon - a war of necessity waged against a people that actively were attempting to destroy Israel.

1. You could use the same argument about Iraq.... |
|
Iraq was never a country....it was three different tribes forced together by the British in the early 1900's...why anyone is surprised they are melting into a civil war is beyond me....
I also think that the the */Cheney cabal actually pushed this war...Cheney was in Israel before the conflict started....
But the most important thing to not forget is in both cases civilians who don't give a damn about their states politics are getting killed...

2. Wow, no logic yet so many opinions! |

"they have no notion of prudence or diplomacy" Wow, what a statement. Sure UN 242 was passed in 1967 and Israel has thumbed it's nose at it. Sure the Arabs agreed nearly a decade ago that if Israel implemented UN 242 they would immediately and unconditionally recognize Israel. Sure, Israel has treated the Palestinians like subhumans for nearly forty years. But that's OK, their behavior is childish and vindictive. I'm sure mr715 would just love to live under the Israeli boot.
Hezbollah HAS NO CHANCE of destroying Israel. They are as much a threat to Israel as Saddam Hussein was to us. You point is nonsense. And even if it were even close to being true, that still wouldn't justify Israel's murder of innocents by bombing densely populated civilian areas just on the off chance they might get a few Hezbollah people.
Israel does exist, but UN 242 is clear. They must give back area grabbed in 1967. Until they do, that means they want the land more than they want peace--which is EXACTLY THE CASE.

4. A country isn't a person |
|
There is an anti-democratic and authoritarian basis to your reasoning. The lebanese baby that was being born did not actively attempt to destroy Israel.
