A **BILLION** dollas a day .......... in PROFIT
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/28/AR2005072802085.html

A billion-with-a-B dollars in profit ... each and every day ..... for ExxonMobil'a second quarter.

A Billion Fucking Dollars.

Every Day.

Not in sales.

In fucking PROFITS.

And from this site:
http://www.knowmore.org/index.php/Exxonmobil
we learn this little gem of a fact:

President George W. Bush (R) was the largest individual recipient of ExxonMobil campaign contributions in 2003. Roughly 86% of ExxonMobil's campaign contributions go to Republican candidates.

Had Enough, America?

1. Every thirty seconds, the wage the average American
lives on for a WHOLE YEAR.

I'm glad I didn't inherit that one. I'd have had to get rid of it by now.

5. Oh, but I heard a representative of the oil industry on tv last night,
stated that oil's profits are not that big compared to alcohol/tobacco & snack foods/entertainment.

SHEESH!!

4. "No Blood for Oil"
Edited on Thu Jul-27-06 10:39 PM by welshTerrier2
shell oil's profits are up 40% this quarter ... they're loving this war ... what does anyone think they just might be whispering in bush's ear about ending the war in Iraq? the longer the ME remains unstable, the more money they make ... nice, eh??

and speaking of Democrats ... oh, um ... well, anyway, what do our guys say about all this "blood for oil" ???

they certainly won't ever make the case that bush's motives in Iraq are to pump up Big Oil's bottom lines ... we need them to start educating the American people about this but they just won't do it ... it's killing the country but they've calculated it's not a risk they're willing to take ...

until Democrats make the case that our entire foreign policy is being directed for the sole benefit of Big Oil, nothing will change ...

but fear not ... some Dems have a plan ... no, they're not going to out the corruption of imperialistic American foreign policy ... but they do want to hit 'em where it hurts ...

some Dems have gingerly called for windfall profits taxes ... this idea, though i approve of it, is ultimately an inadequate response ... it is a bandaid solution to the massive corruption of our government ...

until our "democracy" is forced to serve the best interests of the American people, this system of corruption will continue ... ultimately, the problem i have with windfall profits taxes is that they distract from the real problem ...

even the term "windfall" makes it seem like Big Oil's obscene profits are just "coincidences" that dropped "extra profits" in the lap of Big Oil in pursuit of perfectly legitimate objectives overseas ... Democrats need to tell the American people the truth ... these "windfall profits" are NOT coincidences at all; the "perfectly legitimate objectives" are neither perfect nor legitimate; Big Oil's abusive profits have come about by the very illegitimate policies of a very corrupt system ...

6. Check Your Math.
Their profits were 10 billion. That's a billion every 9 days - still obscene, but not quite a billion a day.

Their gross revenue is almost a BILLION per day for the quarter--net profits were in the 10 Billion range for the quarter.

11. Gasoline demand
Because the demand for gasoline is very inelastic, gas companies can raise the price knowing that it won't change the amount we buy (by any significant amount), and thus we have high prices and high profits.
