Dean supporters should vote for Kerry, if only to... |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 01:47 PM by dansolo
Make sure that Kerry stands behind every one of his promises. The reason that we are where we are now is because Bush was given a pass on every one of his campaign promises that he broke. If Kerry wins the election by co-opting Dean's platform, then it is our duty, as Dean supporters, to be on Kerry's case any time he chooses to waver.

1. If we hand him our support before he commits |
|
then we have nothing to hold over his head.
There is nothing we can do to make Kerry beholden to the people.

10. You must have him confused with Dubya |
|
THAT'S the guy I can't stand to listen to. Kerry has a more liberal voting record than Ted Kennedy, BTW. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself.

4. Did you ever check Kerry's positions in 2002 or early 2003? |
|
It was Dean who moved left. Kerry was always there and has a 35 year record that backs it up.
If you can prove otherwise using Dean's positions from 2002, please share them with us.

Kerry has had to try to blunt the "Liberal" attack of both the DLC and the RNC.

Big Dig? That helped Betchel but screwed the Mass. taxpayers, of which I'm one.
Kerry is only liberal because Mass is a fairly liberal state.

18. That would have hurt the constituents and those employed more. |
|
Kerry didn't like the situation but sided with the needs of the consituency.
He and Kennedy called for an investigation into the accounting. Hopefully the GOP governors will be outed as inept handlers of money.
Kerry...always doing the right thing, no matter how it MIGHT appear to his detractors.

6. Yes, Kerry is a great second choice for Dean people |
|
It is nice to see that there are still Dean backers who like Kerry after the harsh campaign between them.

But I am realistic in that Dean's chances are slim at this point. I am afraid that Dean's run may have been all for naught if he is supressed by the Democratic Party after he withdraws from the race. All I am saying is that we should follow Dean's lead, and we should remain outspoken critics. Unfortunately we are in a catch-22 situation. We can't see if Kerry will keep his promises unless he actually becomes president. Once he is president, he can choose to ignore us. We should let him know that he should ignore us at his own peril.

...no.
Kerry has to EARN my vote, and to date, he's not even come close. Furthermore, I don't think my objections are going to "keep him honest".

Assuming his momentum continues. My support? Not in this lifetime.

And he will never get any money from me. I don't want it to pay back his mortgage.

17. ...get someone in office who can actually get a bill passed |
|
Were we awake the last ten years? Did we see what they did to Clinton? Without personal issues to attack someone on where will they go, to blocking any and all bills proposed by his administration? Are moral victories going to make this world safer?
