The real John Kerry- WARNING: This is from the NY POST.

THE REAL KERRY

By HOWIE CARR

http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/17337.htm

February 5, 2004 -- BOSTON
ONE of the surest ways to get the phones ringing on any Massachusetts
talk-radio show is to ask people to call in and tell their John Kerry
stories.

And now he's running for president as a populist. His first wife came
from a Philadelphia Main Line family worth $300 million. His second
wife is a pickle-and-ketchup heiress.

Kerry lives in a mansion on Beacon Hill on which he has borrowed $6
million to finance his campaign. A fire hydrant that prevented him and
his wife from parking their SUV in front of their tony digs was removed
by the city of Boston at his behest.

It's a wonderful life these days for John Kerry. He sails Nantucket
Sound in "the Scaramouche," a 42-foot Hinckley powerboat. Martha
Stewart has a similar boat; the no-frills model reportedly starts at
$695,000. Sen. Kerry bought it new, for cash.

snip.......................

EDIT: Howie Carr is a Nutwing talk show host

Do you honestly believe this will change anyone's mind about voting for/against Kerry?

As for your source, gimme a friggin' break. The NY Post???

Try posting something positive about the General instead...

16. The way to read this article
The Murdoch-owned Post usually signals pretty clearly what the details of the RW smear campaigns against particular candidates will be.

Read this story, Kerry supporters, and you pretty much have the script for Fox, Novak, et al, for the next few months.

10. AGREED....
When people find out about Kerry's indulgent, extravagant lifestyle they will be turned off.

Dean became a Doctor to help people, Kerry became a politician to help himself. BIG difference.

29. Dean would get beat worse
And usher in a Republican landslide. Fairly or not, his Iowa concession speech has painted him as an angry man that has a whiff of instability, and the grief and jokes made at his expense has turned his campaign into an afterthought. Every time he speaks, it seems that within 5 minute some reference to his scream speech is made, and whatever point he makes is forgotten. The entire campaign would be like that, IMHO.

lending credibility to Howie Carr on any level is pretty sad.

7. Howie Carr is Boston's local Limbaugh-wannabe.
And this is basically a hash of every little gossipy and sleazy hit on Kerry in the past decade. Pay no mind.

12. It's a hit piece. What the GOP has in store for any Dem leading candidate
They did it to Dean, now they have switched to Kerry. The New York Post, fer Chrissakes? When will we learn? They are seductive. Get ready for more. If Edwards surges, he's next. Next you will be posting Limbaugh's comments. Please spare us. And be a little more critical in your choice of sources.

LOL, I live in the NYC area and believe me, no one around here would quote the NY Post for anything.

BTW, I assume we will be seeing plenty of these "gigolo" posts from freepers. Do we have to help them?

14. Snobbery

"Snobbery is not the same thing as pride of class. Pride of class may not please us but we must at least grant that it reflects a social function. A man who exhibited class pride—in the day when it was possible to do so—may have been puffed up about what he was, but this ultimately depended on what he did. Thus, aristocratic pride was based ultimately on the ability to fight and administer. No pride is without fault, but pride of class may be thought of as today we think of pride of profession, toward which we are likely to be lenient. Snobbery is pride in status without pride in function. And it is an uneasy pride of status. It always asks, “Do I belong—do I really belong? And does he belong? And if I am observed talking to him, will it make me seem to belong or not to belong?” It is the peculiar vice not of aristocratic societies which have their own appropriate vices, but of bourgeois democratic societies."

Lionel Trilling (1905–1975), U.S. critic, educator. “Manners, Morals, and the Novel,” The Liberal Imagination: Essays on Literature and Society, Viking (1950).

24. yes!
Because I wanted to show solidarity with the Dean folks.

I'm still a strong Clark supporter.

Clark and Dean are the only no "insider" campaigns.

I'm sick of Washington politics.

Clark or Dean 04.

19. HAHAHHAHAHAHAH
this reminds me of people who think bush is just like them because of the false image he puts out all the while he is doing things to hurt those who are not wealthy and benefiting people like himself. john kerry doesn't pretend to live just like everyone else he knows he has had priveledges but he supports policies which help all people like tax cuts for middle classes and a clean environment for all.

25. My Kerry is not the war hero; it's the Kerry who came back against the war
That is the Kerry who I support. Not because of his war hero status, but because he came back and passionately and effectively opposed that war. And had the credibility to do it.

I don't believe a word that comes out of stupid republican mouths anymore. They are habitual liars and to agree with them is to admit you have become dumbed down like they have.

27. Thanks for the Info
Guess instead of a new JFK, we're getting Thurston and Lovey Howell.

It's going to be REALLY hard to vote Dem this fall. Thank God my vote won't make any difference as Bush will take Indiana by at least 60%

I am a Dean supporter and I have some issues with Kerry. I also like General Clark. My question - why the hell are you citing the NY Post and Howie Carr???

We all need to raise the level of discourse and debate.

30. it IS b.s, and Howie Carr is a career slimeball, but . . .
I, for one, think it's important to keep tabs on what the opposition is saying about our candidates . . . you have to know your enemy to be able to fight him, so I don't object when articles like this are posted . . . btw, Howie Carr has been on Kerry's case for about a quarter century now, and Kerry is still in office . . . that should tell you a lot about Carr's influence . . .
