Why the heck isn't Sharptons republican campaign manager making the news?
I can't believe that they're ignoring this story. At least the broadcast media

http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0405/barrett.php
http://www.salon.com/opinion/conason/2004/02/03/sharpton/index_np.html
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/25/politics/campaign/25SHAR.html

I had a somewhat good opinion of Sharpton being in the debates for a while, but I've soured on him ALOT even before this came out. It seems here it doesn't matter if someone can be really unapologetic about a loathesome record but be accepted if you pander to the hard-left with rhetoric.

Anyway I really want him out of the debates. Kucinich should stay if thats what he needs to do, but if Sharpton left we could at least have somewhat of a real debate with 5 people. (I know tons of people disagree with me on that, but lets stay on the topic of why the media isn't running with this story

2. uh, I beg to differ. Obviously alot of republicans like it
and more people probably know that Al Sharpton is running than John Kerry.

3. You can't embarrass Sharpton
In his mind, he's never made a mistake, and he has no regrets in his career. Besides, he is not a factor in the race at the moment.

Basically you aren't going to get any backtracking from him, just bombast so why ask him about him. And no one really cares about him.

5. He is the darling of the right wing media
they keep giving him attention because he makes the party look bad. I wish one of the candidates had put Shrpton in his place a long time ago.

7. I don't know about what "our" you're talking about
but everybody is afraid of standing up to Sharpton for fear of being called racist and it's wrong

8. Because all the time dedicated for political news
is spent trying to convince us that the race will be Kerry v. bush--that Kerry has the nom. locked up and why are these other guys going against the orders of Terry Mac and staying in the race when they have no chance to win.

Once that is accomplished we might see a story about Sharpton.

9. Uh, nobody is surprised? I've seen this movie once in 2001 and refuse
to invest myself empotionally again. We already have a GOP mayor thanks to this man, this time he won't affect us that much.

12. because he served his puporse
He attacked Dean, not once, but twice, and both times to some effect. First there was the Confederate flag thing and then the Vermont cabinent. The second charge, BTW, was researched by that very campaign manager. Had he gone after Kerry he would have been exposed to all by now.
