Does anyone know where Rove got this idea?
Edited on Sun Jul-30-06 10:00 AM by lonehalf
snip...
Rove told about 100 graduates trained to be political operatives that they should respect the instincts of the American voter.

"There are some in politics who hold that voters are dumb, ill informed and easily misled, that voters can be manipulated by a clever ad or a smart line," said Rove, who is credited with President Bush's victories in the 2000 and 2004 elections. "I've seen this cynicism over the years from political professionals and journalists. American people are not policy wonks, but they have great instincts and try to do the right thing."

May he burned in the fiery depths of hell, too! He is Cheney's little helper. Cheney is Satan incarnate! May they all suffer a long, slow painful death, then rot in hell!

6. So, he is saying that what he has done over the course
of his entire evil career doesn't work. So why does he do it?

7. Hmm, he points out that the voters are dumb, ill-informed, and easily
misled ... kinda like being able to boil an issue down to a simple catch-phrase ... which does nothing to really educate the person on what the real solution could entail.

I wonder which party is the master of that technique, making soundbyte policy instead of real, boring, intellectual, long-winded, and complicated stuff ...

Oh, that's right ...

THE REPUBLICANS!

8. Stroking the "rubes" to keep them from smelling a rat.
It's just more inspired psy-ops from Rove. It is a bass-ackwards (and highly effective) way of getting people to ignore his con man odor. Rove is saying, "How could I con you? You're too smart for that!" Sickenlingly effective con artist at work... Some of the rubes will lap it up. But I think most are starting to smell a rat.

9. Pandering to voters? He didnt invent it. Surprised it's broadcast on DU.
No one here thinks that he is dumb enough to treat voters with open condenscension, nor do we give a rats ass how highly he values the intelligence of the American people (us). This is the kind of stuff I would expect to find in Free Republic, where it would make the posters feel all smug and loved by their propaganda master.

Warning: when a snake oil salesman tells you how smart you are, he is about to thin out your wallet.

10. It was his idea.
"There are some in politics who hold that voters are dumb, ill informed and easily misled, that voters can be manipulated by a clever ad or a smart line ..."

And it worked quite nicely for his brainchild, the Swift Boat Liars.

n'est-ce pas?
