Maine: Poll shows support for Baldacci, other top-of-ticket incumbents
PORTLAND, Maine — Gov. John Baldacci, U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe and Maine´s two congressmen held substantial leads in a poll released Monday, slightly more than three months before Election Day.

The Strategic Marketing Services survey also indicated that Mainers were confident that the Boston Red Sox will win the World Series.

In the gubernatorial contest, 42 percent of respondents said they would vote for or lean toward Democrat Baldacci, compared to 24 percent for Republican Chandler Woodcock. Independent Barbara Merrill and Green Independent Pat LaMarche each had 3 percent.

None of the other three candidates mustered 1 percent, while 27 percent of those polled said they were undecided.

Baldacci´s 18 percent lead over Woodcock increased by eight percentage points since a Strategic Marketing Services poll in March.

Unfortunately, Olympia Snowe has a 58-point lead in her race. :grr:

2. Election Prediction is putting this one in the Republican camp!

Jesus! Are the Republicans that desperate, that they put fake polls out on the web to cover up their own weakness?

3. Is that a GOP poll site? Because it makes no sense.
It admits that Democrat Baldacci will win as governor, yet it classifies the Maine gubernatorial election as a "weak GOP gain." So he wins ... but he loses?

4. The numbers there look totally off
Ras is typically slanted right.

I like the +18 for Baldacci. That makes more sense.

5. It's run by a hard-core Republican
...as can be witnessed in things like stating "Maine is the 9th least conservative state."
