Two-term, One Term pattern (hope for November) |
|
Granted this doesn't mean a thing, but just thought it was an interesting pattern. succession in office counts as the previous president's term for the sake of argument
FDR - 4 Terms (count it as 2 though, talking multiple terms) HST - 1 Term DDE - 2 Terms JFK/LBJ - 1 Term RMN/GF - 2 Terms JC - 1 Term RWR - 2 Terms GHWB - 1 Term WJC - 2 Terms GWB - 1 Term?

There were elected in 1960. LBJ became president in 1963 finishing out JFK's term. He was then elected to a full term in 1964.

The only reason Harry Truman didn't run for a second term in 1952 (and win!) is because he felt he should honor the new constitutional amendment, even though it didn't apply to him.
