What if Kerry chose Dean as his VP?
What would everyone here think?

Don't laugh - Reagan picking Bush Sr. for VP was along the same lines. Bush violated the 11th commandment of the Repubs, and called Reagan's plan "Voodoo Economics," and was relentless with his attacks on Reagan.

So Imagine a Kerry/Dean ticket.....

3. don't think it will happen
... I can't see Dean complementing Kerry. (Or complimenting him for that matter.)

Should Kerry win the nomination, he'll pick a southerner as his Veep.

4. It just won't happen
Dean has too many vocal and eager supporters, Kerry would constantly be in fear of being upstaged. Look for him to bring in a Quayle-esque figure or someone who comes across as a kid brother.

Choosing Edwards or Richardson.

27. I'd say better with Richardson
Admittedly it was Bob Dole saying this, but he says the problem with a Kerry/Edwards ticket is that both are Senators. Maybe he's just scared of a Kerry/Edwards ticket, but I think he has a point.

6. Two New Englanders on the ticket?
Either way -- Dean/Kerry or Kerry/Dean -- * wins big. They would lose the entire South and much of the west, probably parts of the Midwest.

7. That would spoil an otherwise good ticket
Kerry is too smart to ruin his ticket like that.

it won't happen, because they are both from the same region of the country. Besides, the race isn't over yet.

9. Sorry, but the map frowns on it.
Kerry HAS to move outside New England to balance the ticket. I'm thinking Edwards is the man to grab.

10. Nope, won't work
Dean is to vocal to be a VP, and doesn't add much at all.

11. Dean would never accept.
First of all I don't think Dean likes Kerry all that much right about now. Second Kerry wouldn't do it because it really wouldn't do all that much for his ticket. The best VP that can be chosen from the candidates running are either Clark or Edwards. I think Kerry would choose Edwards over Clark -- simply because of Edwards ability to speak and the fact that they seem to have a few things in common.

16. Dean would at least bring a clear position re: Iraq invasion to the ticket
Something that is sorely lacking from Kerry.

His grassroots fundraising will help the ticket enormously.

17. Dean is history
Dean will not win the nomination. Dean will not be VP. It is now Deans choice if he wants the party to win or does he just want to keep his mug in the spotlight as long as he can. it's time to pool the plug on Deans run.

21. Kerry will not pick Howard Dean
It will never happen; Kerry will probably choose Graham or Edwards.
If Dean drops out, I'm getting out of this political arena. If I must vote for someone else, I'll probably do it, but certainly will not support anyone in the way I've supported Dean. It will be strictly mechanical. :loveya: Howard

22. Evan Bayh

Evean Bayh is even more mechanical than Al Gore. He won't upstage Kerry. He was a governer and a Senator. He is from a "red" state. He is from an agricultural state.

He's also very smart and could handle Cheney (or whoever) in a debate.

I would immediately lose all my respect for him. My loathing for Kerry is not because he's beating Dean.

28. Not in a million years
Dean brings no electoral votes with him. We need the South and Edwards would be much more helpful in this regard. Frankly, someone who has fallen as far as fast as Dean has will do nothing to help the ticket's image. Someone like Edwards or Clark would.
