Final McKinney-Johnson debate (C-Span 12:30pm et - Saturday)
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 08:19 AM by welshTerrier2
the first debate was absolutely disgraceful ... voters in a democracy should never be treated the way they were by both candidates and the useless panel of questioners ...

the entire debate was nothing but accusations being tossed back and forth ... this is a Congressional election and the candidates should rise above the sleaze and discuss some of the critically important national issues ...

for those who just can't get enough of this punishment, here they go again ... if you miss the live broadcast, C-Span usually rebroadcasts the debate several times ...

9. Both candidates have made these debates weak
McKinney is a better speaker, but I prefer Johnson a bit overall.

I'll support whoever wins the primary.

13. i couldn't see the debate ...
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 03:55 PM by welshTerrier2
did EITHER candidate discuss issues like health care, the war in Iraq, crimes of the bush administration, the Israeli-Lebanon conflict, global warming, globalization and jobs, etc?

if so, what did McKinney have to say on these issues?? what did Johnson say??

or was this another mud-slinging disservice to voters the way the first debate was ???

15. The "moderators" seemed to be against Cynthia, She overcame it all.
The woman mod kept droning on about Cynthia's not introducing enough bills in the House and not getting enough co-sponsors.

Hank was totally negative and defensive. He couldn't muster enough positive accomplishments of his own so he attempted to rack up points on the "cops vs. McKinney" incident.

19. That moderator was such a major ASSHOLE.
Limiting them both to one-word answers re whether America is a force for "good or ill"? That's not a debate, that's a survey. My God he was so insultingly stupid, you can't make it up.

20. McKinney certainly is a better public speaker
Hank Johnson comes of very unpolished, but once again, I don't really feel like anything of substance was really discussed by either candidate. The questions/format didn't really help.

Another mudfest...I guess I really shouldn't expect much of anything different. With a few differences in each of their platforms, I guess they don't feel the need to discuss it. However, I would have preferred to see them discuss where their policy differs on Isreal instead of this crap.
