Dan Rather on "roundtable" on Chris Matthews Show
It's good to see good ol' Dan back!! Todays discussion was about "the Imperial President", separation of powers.

2. Dan Rather? I'd Rather "Not". He disgusts me...
He allowed Lil' Dumbya and this corporate media get away with sliming his good name. They made Ratherlook like a lying idiot and turned him into a pariah. He didn't stand up to them and no one stood up for him.

5. Your sig picture makes me shudder
Anyone who has ever lived with an alcoholic knows that look on Stupid's face. He was blotto.

As for Rather, he was fired over a story he backed up. That to me is a great evil. Expect to see nothing but tabloid crap and talking points from Couric. Rather let news slip through once in a blue moon. His replacement will not.

6. How did he "allow" anything. That's like saying a victim of a crime is at
fault for his/her plight. Sorry, Dan did his best to bring the truth but when you are stabbed in the back by your own network so that they could still have access to this White House there isn't much you can do but leave and try harder. I don't believe we have heard the last from Dan and I don't believe that Dan is less of a newsman because he was trashed by some people at CBS who wanted cocktail weenies and a Christmas card from this bunch of asswipes.

CBS cut and ran - just like a lot of networks and I have hope that someday, soon, all of these people will get their due.

10. It should have made it CRYSTAL CLEAR to ALL truthseekers that newsmedia
is COMPLICIT with BushInc. NONE of the news organizations mentioned the truth of the story while ALL repeated the lies and spin as if they were facts.

Rather was treated just like every Dem candidate since 1993.

11. It's all Dan's fault for wearing that halter top and short-shorts
and being drunk and in public late at night. He was just asking for it! Right, Bill?

8. CBS Didn't Back Rather
facing a serious backlash from the Bushies with a boycott of administration guests, they made Rather shut up and dropped looking into "who" provided the documents. Blame the corporation, not Rather. Don't you think he wanted his name cleared? They pulled all resources off the story and fired his producer, then him.

9. CBS did to Rather what Dem leaders did to Kerry - failed to provide backup
at the most crucial points of the campaign.

No bigname Dems supported Kerry on Tora Bora, no bigname Dems supported his call for Rumsfeld's firing after Abu Ghraib, no big name Dems showed up on tv countering Giuliani, McCain and Dole, and no bigname.....you get the picture.

7. Nice to see a real journalist telling some truth on that show
Listening to Dan Rather on Tweety's show, it became immediately apparent to me that his were some of the most intelligent, thoughtful comments I've EVER heard on that show.

I think he brought a perspective to the dangers of the 'Imperial Presidency' that none of the other pundits on that show has ever even considered.

My favorite comment of his was when he pointed out that, while the Bush administration's push for more presidential power is very similar to Nixon's, people ought not forget what eventually happened to Nixon.
