Lieberman: Bush's agenda "wrong for our country and our future"

Lieberman confronts critics in tight race
New poll shows Connecticut senator closing gap lead of Tuesday primary

Updated: 5:31 a.m. PT Aug 7, 2006
EAST HAVEN, Conn. - Facing intense pressure in his bid for the Democratic primary, Sen. Joe Lieberman strongly distanced himself from President Bush, saying he opposed the White House’s domestic agenda and its handling of the Iraq war.

“I am the only Democrat in America to run against George Bush in a national election twice,” Lieberman told supporters at a rally Sunday. “You know why I ran for president in 2004? Because I believe that his agenda was wrong for our country and our future. And that’s the truth.”

Meanwhile, a poll out Monday showed the race tightening. Lieberman, a three-term incumbent and his party’s vice presidential candidate in 2000, has been dogged by liberal Democrats angry at him for supporting the war in Iraq.

Challenger Ned Lamont, a political newcomer and founder of a cable company, has capitalized on the war’s unpopularity in Connecticut by accusing Lieberman of being too close to Republicans and Bush.

18. Um, he didn't?
The thing that bothers me the most about the Lamont campaign is that it flaunts a similar lie to the one that put Bush* into office in 2000. I don't really have much against Lamont himself other than his failure to distance himself and repudiate that lie.

effed that up on the cloture vote, on which he voted WITH THE REEP PARTY, which meant his big fat NO vote on the actual bill meant Jack squat. And he knew it.

21. I used the terms "voting record Lieberman republicans" in Google.
This came up first:

It isn't difficult to be an informed voter in this day and age, you know. It just takes a little effort, which is something the grazing thousands of DUers tend to run from like it's kryptonite.

That statement made me lose the last modecum of respect I had left for Joe. It proves he will say or do ANYTHING to win... even compromise his own integrity, because who here actually thinks he believes that, given all the defending, colluding, abetting, and kissing that has gone on between Joe and Bush? At least while he stuck to his nasty-a** guns, I thought, well, at least he meant what he'd said and done all these years. But, if we believe his lying sorry a** today, he didn't. Not really. Gave me a real WTF moment, I can tell you.

Now, there will be those here who will say, "Gee, TC, with you, Joe just can't win!" To that, I say, I GODDAM WELL HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT! And, I hope most of CT's Democrats agree with me, too!

TC

15. Too little, too late, too desperate.
Frankly, Joe can be "with" Bush in the Iraq war all he wants, IMO. If that's what he truly believes, then so be it. The problem I have is his trotting himself out in front of the cameras to criticize Democrats at every turn, then claim he's "a good Democrat".

Bi-partisan, my ass! He's a Bush etal enabler; that makes him a Bush etal supporter in my book. Does he really think he's convincing "moderates" or Cons to support a Liberal viewpoint when he goes on with Hannity and bashes Dems? Or when Limbaugh calls him his kind of Democrat that it's a compliment? Having Ann Counter endorse him should be a final wake up call!

Think, Joe! THINK!!! Are Cons putting Ron Paul out there in front of the cameras? How about Walter Jones? There's a reason why they aren't out there day after day but Lieberman is.

16. Look at the photo of Holy Joe.
He looks worried, doesn't he? Look at the deep grooves in his forehead, in between his eyebrows. Now check out the lips, which are pooched out in an eternal kiss....the Kiss Up.

Joe the HO has probably been told by his corporate benefactors, "You get out there and you WIN You hear me? If you lose and that upstart Ned Lamont gets in here, we're going to be in deep crap. So get out there and win for God's sake".
