Dems all over if they have the cash should borrow this strategy IMHO. What a way to win voter's hearts and votes!

Inside Politics: 8th District challenger gives away gasoline

Larry Kissell, the Democrat seeking to unseat U.S. Rep. Robin Hayes in the 8th District, gave away gas to about 500 customers last week.

Kissell, a 55-year-old social studies teacher in Montgomery County, said he sought the publicity to underscore the rising price of gas and his differences with Hayes on energy policy.

At a station in Biscoe, where he lives, gas was sold for $1.22 a gallon Thursday for 2 hours. His campaign made up the difference in the actual cost, he said.

Kissell accused Hayes, a four-term Republican from Concord, of being unscrupulously influenced by the oil industry.

“He has consistently been on the wrong side of the votes in the interests of the working people of the 8th District,” Kissell said in a phone interview Friday.

3. And I bet it brought out the TV cameras
You know the local news are covering the high gas prices anyway and anytime there is a bargain local news is usually all over it. I've seen radio stations pull this stunt and it is a great campaign idea.
