1. Yeah, the Republican party
I, for one, will be happy to see that grin wiped off your face in CT. McKinney might lose, but it won't be because her party's ideals are rejected, it will be because of her gaffes and the right wing megaphone.

8. The OP says Lieberman will lose
In which case disagreeing would mean that you think he will win. I think you misread.

2. I agree
I think they both hurt the party for different reasons.

This is a good night.

4. Their opponents can't be trusted
Lamont has an 80% record of voting Republicans and McKinney's opponent Hank Johnson is hardly progressive.

13. Lamont does not have an 80% record
for voting with Republicans. It's a lie that has been debunked in his local paper.

11. Why do you think it's good for McKinney to lose?
She's one of the most outspoken critics of the Bush administration in the Democratic Party.

21. Well, For Starters...
...and mostly for finishers, the slap fight with Zippy the Mall Cop.

I think it is ridiculous to expect that one security guard is supposed to recognize what? 700 separate legislators, assistants, secretaries, etc.

All she had to do was wear her name badge, but because she was too lazy or forgetful, she decided to not only deride a guy just doing his job by trying to keep her from entering Congress unquestioned, but she struck him, then had the temerity to play the race card to try and divert attention away from her own ineptitude.

At a time in our country's history where so much is at stake, she was willing to put her own arrogance above the best interests of the rest of us... actions more suitable for a REPUBLICAN.

I am a bleeding heart liberal. I lean so far to the left when I flush, my turds go down counter-clockwise, but:

I was pissed at Tipper for the PMRC (sorry, but it's "Freedom of Speech" not "Freedom From Offense").

I was pissed at Clinton for the blow job (although I did not think it was worthy of any questions or prosecution); I was pissed at him because of his weakness, he handed power to the 'Pubs.

I was pissed at Hilary for the harsh words about video game violence (let's leave the posturing to the 'Pubs, 'kay?).

And for the very same reason, I was pissed at McKinney... DEMOCRATS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BETTER THAN THAT!

22. The episode with the security guard you refer to is the version we hear
from our corporate media.

I can't prove that it was wrong, but I've heard other versions (which I can't recall precisely now). I just have two things to say about that: First, I would not believe anything I hear from our corporate media. We don't know the exact sequence of events, and we don't know what provocation she was given. We do know that, since her (heroic IMO) vocal criticism of Bush she has been a marked woman. I also find it very "interesting" that there were no charges. I tend to think that if the story is the way it was described in the media they would have thrown the book at her. And in any event, I don't see any reason to trash a career of public service because of a single incident, which we don't have many details on anyhow.
