Georgia has the most counties.

More than Texas. More than California.

10. The counties are Fake!
They exist only for Census data. Connecticut does not have county governments. The Towns are the closest thing to counties here.

I knew Georgia was a populous state, but I didn't realize that it had more counties than Texas.

These counties were mapped out in ye olde times.

159 of them.

6. Actually, that's not correct.
Texas has the most counties with 254. Georgia has the second-most with 159.

11. Kentucky has 120 counties
which is the most per square mile in the country besides Texas.
