So, what will the CT GOP do?
Stick with the lightweight Schlessinger?

Support Lieberman unofficially?

Dump Schlessinger in favor of a candidate that someone has actually heard of?

Start a border war with Massachusetts to create a diversion?

1. hahahah i like the border war option :)
Since they have Liberman as a spoiler, i suspect they'll fund and provide volunteers for his camapaign and not bother with the "greens".

2. Or, if Lieberman wins, how soon afterward will he announce his
change of parties...to Republican?

Stranger things have happened...

8. But to do so would render him COMPLETELY....
...incredible since he just spent the last three months stressing how much of a DEM he was.

But yes, I could see that happening. And it might be a good area for Lamont to focus on rhetorically if Lieberman goes through with this new party nonsense.

3. They will support Lieberman...
What do you expect? he has the support of both Hannity and Coulter.

He will be the Gay Marriage of CT. The wedge issue from heaven for the GOP.

It will be a battle to get out the message to keep dems focused and to support their party candidate.

4. Indeed. If I were the GOP, that's what I'd do.
Keep the man without a face and a name on the ballot, and support Lieberman to the max.

But... aren't they a little worried about losing the Senate? Victory by a nominal Republican would better serve their effort to retain a majority than one by Nomentum.... who has, don't laugh, *pledged* publicly to caucus with the DEMS.

At least that's what he said in the primary campaign.

12. It doesn't matter...
In my opinion, there is less concern about holding a formal majority as long as the corporatist agenda is upheld. Lieberman is a corporatist and votes with the corporate right wing on issues of finance, regulation, etc.

It's the money that wants Lieberman to keep his seat. While the money usually equates to republican, and I'm sure the money would prefer a proper republican in his seat, Joe represents the interests of the money and that's all the money cares about.

6. Hope they support him full on!
Like someone else said, if the repubs funnel money in everyone will know and that will blow it all in the open!

9. But remember, it's not the DEM primary anymore...
and the GOP is quite capable of winning elections statewide in CT.

It does pose a significant obstacle to Lieberman's credibility.
