Will we be able to "write in" a candidate with electronic voting? |
|
I am ABK. I just don't like his character. But I'm also ABB. If I want to write in a candidate for the GE, will I be able to with the new electronic voting machines? I don't believe I seen that option the last few times I used them. :eyes:

Here in middle TN we have had electronic voting for about 10+ years and have always had the ability to write in. Some newer electronic voting systems have "type in" voting.

While I understand where you're coming from, you're handing the election to Bush and the pukes based on principle.

But I'll still vote against bush by writing in a candidate. Why do I want to vote for someone as corrupt, or bushlite in office. I'd rather take my chances.

As far as I know, Kerry hasn't killed 9,000 Iraqi civilians and 500+ Americans.

8. This isn't an anti-kerry thread... |

My "ABK" in my orginal message was just to give the reason I wanted to find out about writing in a candidate. I'd rather not waste my vote on him.

7. Call it what you want, but |
|
ANY vote against Bush that goes to a write-in or 3rd party candidate, EQUALS a Bush vote. Plain and simple. Do I wish it weren't the case? Of course I do, but the fact remains.

9. Plain and simple it does not. |
|
A vote for bush is +1 for him. A vote for anyone else is +0 for him. Simple math.

10. Here is what often happens to write-in votes. |
|
One election official reads the vote to a second one, who ticks off 'other' on their list. In some cases these officials smirk, or roll their eyes, wondering why anyone would bother doing this. The paper ballot is then filed away (or thrown away) never to be seen again.
You might as well write your own name in. On 1/20/05, what difference will your action have made?

11. The message is that we don't approve of the given candidate. |

While there may be a provision for writing in a candidate (The DREs we use have an on-screen keyboard), your state may not count them. In NC, the law does not require that presidential write-ins be counted, and they are not.
