Why do Dems keep putting up with this "weak on security" BS?
Why are we not going on the attack, and saying that the Republicans are the party that allowed 9/11 to happen? I mean the baseline absolute certainty that they didn't give a shit about terror warnings, still can't figure out how to get intel bureaucracies and first responders to be able to communicate, and want to sell our ports to Osama bin Laden's falcon-hunting buddy. If they accuse us of conspiracy-mongering, we just say that obviously people who can't figure out how to drop water bottles on New Orleans wouldn't have been able to actually pull off such an attack themselves. Keep linking NOLA with 9/11, with total indifference and lethal incompetence as the memes.

1. Osama whom?
The GOP won't ever bring this up. They voted for a Texas cowboy who said he'd bring in Osama dead or alive. W did nothing and they are silent on their criticism.

2. I agree
This will be the collective message from the GOP from now on, starting with Snow, Cheney, Mehlman yesterday.

I guess the time has come for a common view on Iraq, personally I think Mr. Lamont's view is an excellent starting point:

"The War in Iraq

Three years ago, President George Bush rushed our country to war in Iraq and Senator Lieberman has cheered him on every step of the way. No, there was no imminent threat to America, there were no weapons of mass destruction, and we were not greeted as liberators.

Today, America is no safer, Israel is no safer, Iran is more dangerous, Osama bin Laden is still at large, and our brave troops are stuck in the middle of a bloody civil war. I believe that those leaders who got us into this mess should be held accountable.

Looking forward, I salute the patriotism and wisdom of Congressman Murtha and others who emphasize that “stay the course” is not a winning strategy for Iraq or America. Our best chance of success requires that the Iraqis take control of their own destiny. America should make clear that we have no designs upon their oil and no plans for permanent bases. While we will continue to provide logistical and training support as long as we are asked, our frontline military troops should begin to be redeployed and our troops should start heading home."

7. I don't think he bought into the lies
I think he was well paid to believe the bullshit.

NO ONE could have really believed the lies that got us into Iraq. These people are TERRIBLE liars.

4. Joe Gandelman is not a "conservative blogger"
He's a consistently thoughtful centrist with somewhat left leanings.

He represents the bulge of the bell curve in the American political spectrum.

Peace.

5. Fine as far as it goes--
--but why not just outright say that 9/11 happened, and the damage to NOLA was far worse than it should have been, because Republicans just don't give a damn about the security of real American people.

6. I agree..
... now is the time to go on the offensive. If the Lieberman defeat didn't convince the timid, I don't know what will.
