Does anyone at DU think Tom Delay purposely left office the way he did so that no other Republican could run for his office? Does anyone think Delay's ego caused him to feel if he could not have the seat he would not let any other Republican have the seat? It is beginning to seem to me that Delay did not want any other Republican to run for the seat this year. He should have known that he would be indicted on charges and face a hard reelection campaign. So it seems to me that if he really wanted the Republicans to keep control of the seat he would have retired before the primary election. In addition, even though the media is making out like Tom Delay will do whatever he has to do to get his name off the ballot the statement he released in Texas seems to suggest something different. Delay put out one of those statements like I will try but if it does not happen then oh well. In my opinion he seemed much less concerned with getting his name off the ballot than the media is making out. So what do others think; did Delay's ego get the best of him?

He is a vindictive bastard....his rise to power in Texas meant that he crushed, destroyed and if can't have it no one will have it....and the fact the the Repug party turned their back on him after all the dirty work he did for them....
He won't get to wear that pretty toupe of his in prison!!
