You know if we end up losing in November because of this
latest attack on our freedom....

I will give up on the American people and step back and watch us get what we deserve....

14. So - NO free speech here????
I've been thinking the same thing as the author of this thread since all the 24/7 news of this latest terrorist plot.

IF we lose again in November, NO MATTER WHY, we deserve it. Plain and simple.

2. I cannot believe you think this way...........
are you also sure that an anvil is going to hit you on the head someday? Think about something positive and quit paying so much attention to the news, go help someone, anyone........and forgive: you will feel better.

3. I'm seeing it on DU now, like a bad dream....
All this emphasis on "national security" and terrorism. That is how the GOP will win. It's just like 2004-- Rove pulling the strings and everyone dancing to his tune. Dems will only succeed if they break this cycle and make national security and the WOT a NON-ISSUE. They cannot win by coopting it. Everytime anyone utters the words "national security" or "terrorism" people think of republicans. Those issues are poison for dems, yet I see them plastered all over DU. It's like a nightmare I can't wake up from.

6. It is a bad dream....
It's like Arthur at the end of Camelot....

Telling the boy to run and tell the people there once was a place of good intent, aplace called Camelot...

And Arthur, an old man, took the field and died for what he felt was a true cause...

The young were spared...

Not so anymore...

9. In =ONE= day... the GOP is able to create this bogus message!
It's bad enough that the media has non-stop, 24 hour a day "BREAKING NEWS" coverage..

And that they've completely forgotten the war in Iraq..

And that they were able to immediately halt any talk of Lamont's victory over Lieberman..

And that Lou Dobbs reported today he was SHOCKED that the public is not aware that Bush is reporting completely FALSE figures in the size of the deficit; that it's actually more than twice the amount he's telling people right NOW.. (thank you to Representative Jim Cooper, (D) TN who will be publishing the truth SOON!)

But some of our own DU'ers think that just because the (((spinners))) are spinning the latest thwart of terrorism..

..that all of a sudden it's all over for the Democratic Party!!

SNAP OUT OF IT GUYS !!!!!

Get with the program!! Rove isn't God. He doesn't have it "all figured out"

We will win. You'll see.

8. It will have nothing to do with terrorism.
You will be right to give up on "the American people" though because it simply means we were stupid and lazy. Again.

12.  they are really playing it up
I read an article today, stating Lamont's win was exactly what the repukes/rove wanted, and it played right into their hands. They will use it to convince the public the democratic party has been taken over by cut and run defeatist, and if a democratic candidate doesn't walk the hard core anti war line, he/she will be abandoned by their own party. it also went on to say there is no room for moderates in our party. The repugs used the "big tent, come on in, we have room for all, and all are welcome" slogan and likened the democratic party to a pup tent, with room for only the few. It was sickening how they spun this, I just hope they get their little bump in the numbers, and all will be forgotten in November.

16. Yes, they are "playing it up"... and for all it's worth!
And, they are not only "using it against us", but also hoping to use it for political gain:

They must be stopped!

11. Something that didn't happen won't have an impact
If 9/11 had been thwarted, it wouldn't even have been a major story.

I know that sounds bizarre, but without the images of the burning towers and everything else, you can't envision a disaster of that magnitude and it's quickly relegated, then forgotten.

The GOP will be evaluated in November based on known performance.

13. I hope so and hate what I keep thinking
I almost think the democratic party should quit speaking of the war in iraq all together, "no bring the troops home now", no mention of an illegal war, and also start showing more sympathy toward Israel, or at least not sympathize with hamas and hez, who the vast majority in this country feel are terrorist, and lord knows Americans hate terrorist. I know this sounds lunatic, but if we want to sound strong on security, and fighting terra, we may need to back off. Right now many in the country see progressive democrats as being way to far left, further left than the radical right is right. How do we appeal to the people in the middle? They are the people who will decide the upcoming elections. and for gods sake spell out a plan for iraq, instead of saying "bush fucked up, we have a plan" what kind of plan is that, the dean plan? Each party has a radical base, but that base IMO isn't what wins elections, it's the people who like what they hear close to election day that win elections. Sorry for the rant. AC

15. Yep. Irrational, senseless fear....no matter that a terrorist strike is
an extremely remote threat, no matter that they've lied about such threats dozens of times and we KNOW they lied about them...still people get bug-eyed with fear and lose all sensibility. It's really pathetic.

18. A UK foiled terror plot,
that was helped greatly by a tip in the muslim community. If ratshit can take credit for that, then we americans are very , very , very stupid. I worry more about outright vote rigging and this being used to accomodate it by the media.

20. If We Lose
If we lose in November. It will be because Democrats sit on their ass and whine and do not work for candidates.

There are a thousand races. There are millions of pissed off voters. If you are working for a candiate, you damn well know it.

So continue to get in a message war of who is tougher and who is smarter, and bingo, we lose.

We Democrats sure can play the blame game.
