What Is Lamont Going To Do About CNN Smear?
Edited on Mon Aug-14-06 01:08 AM by Dinger
As some said, and I agree, that he should sue the living shit out of CNN:

Headline News Anchor: ‘Might Some Argue That Lamont…Is The al Qaeda Candidate?’
Today on CNN Headline News, anchor Chuck Roberts discussed the impact of the foiled British terror plot with Hotline senior editor John Mercurio. Roberts asked Mercurio, “How does this factor into the Lieberman/Lamont contest? And might some argue, as some have, that Lamont is the al Qaeda candidate?”

1. "some" might argue..."some" have...
This spineless, wishy-washy 3rd-party hearsay is what allows CNN to get away with crap like this.

CNN isn't saying it, they'll argue. We're just reporting that *some* people are saying it.

What was the context? What possible reason did they have for "some" people calling him the Al Qaeda candidate?

9. "Some" have said is beyond barber shop-level editorials.
Even cable news standards have slipped. Use to be CNN editorials sounded like some Joe at the barber shop and Fox like some drunk at a bar. Now they get their commentary by evesdropping on homeless guys in Central Park as they mutter to themselves. May the responsible CNN anchors, writers, and execs soon be homeless, too.

2. And might some argue, as some have, that CNN is the al Qaeda network?
Shame on them for spreading around so much of the same right wing media shit that's been smeared on them.

6. CNN show "(un)Reliable Sources" talked about it yesterday...
Here's what Arriena Huffington said to dipshit Howard Kurtz:

"I mean, you had your own headline anchorman, Chuck Roberts, describe Lamont as the al Qaeda candidate. This is an equally deceitful, fraudulent, fabricated statement. There should be zero tolerance for all those deceits, whether in images or words.

KURTZ: Well, what Chuck Roberts said, according to the transcript, was that some are calling Ned Lamont the al Qaeda candidate. But it's certainly not a formulation I would have used.

HUFFINGTON: Right -- nobody, see you cannot find a single person who called Lamont the al Qaeda candidate, except Chuck Roberts."

Then Arriena asks Howard a question:

"And what has been the consequences when it comes to Chuck Roberts? Has he been demoted to be covering Paris Hilton or entertainment news where the truth doesn't matter? It's about time that there is that same kind of accountability that Charles is demanding from photojournalists from journalists, as well."

Kurtz' response? Nothing. He turns to his rightie guest and starts talking about something completely different.

KURTZ: All right. Charles Johnson, let me bring you back to the question of this photo....

15. Sites that covered Arianna kicking Howard Kurtz' ass:

College of Journalism and Mass Communications, Nebraska
"CNN's Chuck Roberts swept into controversy"
http://www.newsnetnebraska.org/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/08/14/44e0d63d948b6

Yahoo News
"Arianna Huffington: Fraudulent Words and Images: The Accountability Double Standard"
http://news.yahoo.com/s/huffpost/20060814/cm_huffpost/027188

TruthDig, drilling beneath the headlines
"Huffington: Hold CNN Accountable for Lamont-Al Qaeda Slur"
http://www.truthdig.com/eartotheground/item/20060814_huffington_cnn_accountable/

And this is Arianna's latest comments about Chuck Roberts and CNN:

"Yesterday I wrote about accountability -- and the lack of it -- in our media (as of this post, by the way, neither Chuck Roberts, nor CNN has issued an apology). Today, I'd like to take it one step further..."

(continued): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/arianna-huffington/and-the-winner-is_b_27269.html

Chuck Roberts, CNN -->

For some reason, I have a feeling CNN has no intentions of making him apologize..

I just complained about Chuckie for the second time in the last two days. Someone needs to muzzle that joker. I'm tired of the misuse of the airwaves.

10. Must be important for some or all of the MSM to keep the current
power structure in place. No outsiders wanted in Washington. You have people like Imus going on and on about as he calls him Joe and the stupid primary in CN. They are all promoting the fact that the first poll after the primary shows Lieberman 46 percent to 41 percent for Lamont.

Fuck, Lieberman only leading by 5 with a republican getting some percent and a + or -. Lamont will kick ass in November as well even with the MSM trying to promote Lieberman.

Wish the fuck the MSM would just report the news instead of trying to make and formulate it their way.
