Oh my will their troubled souls ever recover from "Reutergate"?

Oh whoa is me I seem to be having my vapors again :eyes:

Well I haven't seen a lot of mention of this here on DU but it is almost unavoidable if you watch any news for more than the usual 30 minutes that I can stomach. This is issue numero dos on Fox News and their affiliates ;-) after how Democrats are currently housing terrorists and will unleash them because they hate PRESIDENT BUSH so much.

I am sure that the main reason it doesn't get much attention here is because (from this RW link itself)
http://newsbusters.org/node/6797

Reuters has "dropped" the freelance Lebanese journalist after the image in question was shown to be doctored:
"This represents a serious breach of Reuters' standards and we shall not be accepting or using pictures taken by him," Whittle said in a statement issued in London.

The excuse that Reuters gave was indeed lame but as someone who looks through the news photos all the time I have to say that they post these things remarkably fast. Yes they should be more diligent in their scrutiny but hey that is why pencils have erasers (ooh bad example).

It may not surprise you that the red bearded Scaife puppet Brent Bozell oh excuse me --L. Brent Bozell III thinks this is exemplifies the constant assault from the liberal media

THE OTHER REASON that this probably has not drawn a lot of attention here is because this is nothing new to us. Okay maybe not photo shopped, these were done in the daylight and set up while the news media who carried into our homes watched as they were set up. Just a few examples.

I almost forgot this one WAS photo shopped

The fake troops in Bush's new ad

And last and the very least this one from 9/11 that was used as a RNC fundraiser.

1. Did Fox mention at all the doctored smoke from DeWine's campaign ad?
You know, for balance? "A DeWine spokesman acknowledged the image was a "graphic representation" by the firm that produced the ad, which used a still photo of the towers with computer-generated smoke added. ..." http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/20/AR2006072001704.html Or the Hitler mustache on Howard Dean in the GOP website? (Not reported by any major news outlet.)

It never ceases to amaze. Never.

3. Recommended as a reminder to all. With the elections coming up,
I think there will be a lot of this in the corporate media.
