Paul Begala P**** Me Off Recently
Edited on Tue Aug-15-06 01:23 PM by MJDuncan1982
Last night Paul Begala was on a round table with the likes of Oliver North, I believe.

The discussion was national security via the recent UK incidents.

Begala said: "I'm very liberal but even I think that we aren't doing enough for National Security."

Why the qualifier about being a liberal? He is simply acknowledging that he believes liberals are soft on National Security. And even if that wasn't his implication, that is how I took it and I bet that is how many people who saw it took it as well.

Ugh...we are NOT soft on National Security...we're just not gungho idiots who shoot first and ask questions later.

6. Write to him - tell him how you interpreted his comments. Hopefully he
didn't mean it the way you interpreted it, but he needs to make sure he doesn't continue to say similar things. The message that Dems are weak on terror or protecting the country is wrong, and those who are supposed to be on our side need to make sure their words can't be twisted, because we know the other side, the ones who truly are weak, will do whatever they can to muddy up the facts.

9. Begala and North used to do a show together
Previously, Begala co-hosted with Oliver North MSNBC's political talk show, Equal Time. - from Begala's Huffington Post bio: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/contributors/bio.php?nick=paul-begala&name=Paul%20Begala

It should be too much of a shock to see them together. I liked Begala when he started Crossfire but it wasn't long before it became evident that he won't speak out on behalf of any Dems but the Clintons. I think he was afraid it would cramp his social life in the Beltway. He's a total media whore.

13. If I had a nickle for every time he said Bush was a good guy
(and then said "he's my friend") or let scurrilous remarks about the 2004 Democratic field to pass without comment, I'd have a lot of nickles.

12. Begala is a complete moron
He is as compitent at fighting right-wing talking points as Colmes. I'd rather be represented by no one than by the two of them.

14. The phrase out of every Democrat's mouth should be something along
the lines of, "I'm liberal, so I'm naturally in favor of strong, sensible national security."

And there's nothing wrong with a good kicker: "We're a powerful nation with principles that have and will continue to see us through difficult times. Anyone who sees vigorous national security and civil rights as incompatible lacks faith in the American system."

16. Yes.
And add the word effective national security. Wild goose chases and snoopy intimidation of good Americans who are cleary not threatening, is not an effective National Security policy.

15. The whole "National Security" meme...
...is a canard.

I fear the National Security State.

BTW, is Tonga worried about National Security?
