Has Anybody Ever Done An Analysis of Gas Prices In Red vs Blue States?.... |
|
just wondering because I just got back from Ohio where I saw the price of regular down to $2.62/gal. In Chicago its still around $3.21/gal. That got me to thinking that maybe us blue staters were being penalized.

3. Somewhat lame analysis |
|
Using 2004 election results for blue/red. Using today's gasbuddy.com data for gasoline prices.
Red State mean = 2.9265 Blue State mean = 2.9478
So not really.

5. As of this morning, gas here in northwest Georgia |
|
was $2.78 to $2.98 for regular. As you go farther south toward Atlanta, the price gets higher.

6. Last week we drove from New England to Virginia, |
|
traveling down 95 to Wilmington, then over to the eastern shore of Maryland and across the Ches. Bay Bridge. We noted gas prices as we headed south - we even took a detour to locate the eastern most marker of the mason dixon line.
At that time, someone in our party reflecting on the civil war, and how names and places connected to the war are so much a part of the south (ie Jefferson Davis Highway in MD) and commenting on who "won" the civil war said -- "look at the gas prices down here (relative to the northeast), the south won."
