I support John Edwards and |
|
Wesly Clark and Al Gore and Russell Feingold. I'd be thrilled to have any of them as the dem nominee, and I'd support John Kerry if he won again. Yes, I know it's early, but the bickering has already started on DU (as if it ever stopped). Any of these men would be a vast improvement over what we've got now. I don't have a favorite yet, but when I do, I'm going to keep in mind that they're all good men, and not slag any of them off.

i could support Clark, Feingold or (hopefully) DEAN. I could not support Kerry or Gore because they are losers who already lost. Edwards is a lightweight who couldnt even carry his own state or win reelection.
Im undecided on Hillary, but leaning AGAINST her as too moderate.

17. ONLY the RW spinners claim Edwards wouldn't be re-elected in NC. |
|
The GOP had to rig voting machines to make NC red in 2004.

23. You got it half right |
|
Edwards would have been re-elected as senator, albeit by small margin. But the state is still deep red, maybe 10 points more Republican than the nation itself.
Edwards would not have won NC atop our ticket in 2004 and most likely will not in 2008, unless he has a national margin of several points in the popular vote.
I supported Edwards in 2004 and he's my second choice behind Warner in 2008, but you've got to look at the real world and not blame e-voting for everything. Although admittedly that's convenient. I'm sure on election night no matter how well we're doing there will be dozens of posters scrambling to locate any close loss and insist it's pure Diebold,

24. I disagree - I worked a Dem HQ in NC in 2004. We would sell in 3 days |
|
the same amount of 2004 signs that we sold in the entire campaign in 2000. And many of those were to Republicans pissed off about the deficit and the war.

22. Al Gore and John Kerry are not losers. |
|
Just because they ran against a corrupt, rich, asshole like Bush and had their elections stolen doesn't make them losers.

So did Clark.
Sounds like you gotta go Feingold or Hillary - by your own logic.
Good luck with that.

2. How about start by becoming active in the 2006 elections |
|
Isn't there a Senate or Congressional candidate you could support? The election this year is critical we can't wait till 2008 to get active.

say something rude here: You know nothing about me. As a matter of fact, I'm working on Peter Welch's campaign for U.S. Congress against Martha Rainville, here in VT, for Bernie's seat. I'm not working on Bernie's campaign because he'll be elected in a walk.
Your comment was just stupid.

You rudely assumed that I wasn't doing anything re 2006 elections. I corrected you. Too bad if you don't like it, and you're going to whine about being attacked and threaten to leave DU.

9. Our Dem '08 hopefuls are very much a part of 2006 |
|
...raising funds and getting the message out in support of all the mid-term candidates, Edwards is even raising money for state legislature candidates with his Raising the States project.
2008 will definitely kick off the day after midterms, as any political junkie knows!
Those of us who align ourselves now with the Democratic Big Dogs, ARE helping local politics :hi:

let's all keep an open mind, and whoever ends up being the Dem nominee let's work our asses off to get them elected.
John Kerry was not my first choice, but I certainly did all I personally could to help him get elected.
Criticism is one thing, but I think it's inappropriate and wrong for any Democrat to trash any of these people.

7. I can bicker with the best of them |

and I dearly hope the party doesn't nominate another dreary loser of a conservative.
I'd vote for my cat* to get rid of the GOP, though, so I won't have much trouble supporting whatever the party gives me.

15. we need somebody with fire in the belly |
|
Somebody who is a quick thinking and a master of the 30-second sound bite.Somebody who can explain his positions with clarity and brevity. No more senate-speak.Somebody who can spot a trap laid by clever journalists and avoid falling into it from ten miles away.I know its a lot to ask but its a big country.
If somebody like this comes along,he(or she) will win by a landslide.

18. I'm watching what they're doing and saying right now |
|
and what they've said and done over the past 5 years.
Even more than in 2004, I do have a short list of "Please GOD NO's!!!"... I hope I can explain why, as the primaries get closer, in a rational way (no lies, smears, rightwing rehashed long-debunked bs, etc.). Hope we can all do that.
I have an obvious favorite. But as always, may the BEST man or woman win, and even if I don't believe he/she did win in the end, I'll support whoever ends up the nominee!!
